Regional union of theaters Grupa Triglav (RUTA Grupa Triglav) continues its mission of cooperation of theaters in the region on Brioni. The host of the new segment of the festival, which takes place from August 13 to 25, is the Ulysses theater, and the Podgorica City Theater will perform the play "Don Quixote" directed by Andraš Urban, based on the motifs of Miguel de Cervantes, at Mali Brion in Croatia tomorrow.
RUTA Grupa Triglav is a network of partner theaters from the cities of the region, which, in addition to the City Theater from Podgorica, also includes the Ulysses Theater, the Local Theater of Ljubljana, the Belgrade Drama Theater, Chamber Theater 55 from Sarajevo and the Drama Theater of Skopje.
Thus, in addition to "Don Quixote", plays from Ljubljana, Belgrade, Sarajevo and Skopje will be hosted at the Minor fortress.
At the opening ceremony at the Minor Fortress on Mali Brion, the Ulysses Theater performed "King Lear" by William Shakespeare, directed by Lenka Udovički, with Radet Šerbedžija in the lead role, followed by guest appearances by partner theaters.
The local theater from Slovenia will present itself to the audience on August 19 with Iza Strehar's play "Use and Throw Me Away" directed by Gregor Gruden.
The Chamber Theater 55 from Sarajevo on Malo Brion is a guest on August 21 with Vedran Fajković's play "Theatre for Beginners" directed by Admir Glamoček, and the Skopje Drama Theater on August 23 with Daniel Glattauer's play "Miraculous Therapy" directed by Dimča Nikolovski.
The festival will be closed by the Belgrade Drama Theater, which on August 25 will perform the play "Ugly, dirty, evil" by Slobodan Obradović (based on the film by E. Scola) and directed by Lenka Udovički.
"The idea behind the regional union is to open doors for cooperation between theaters in the region, in order to encourage interaction, both between professionals from the theater profession, as well as the audience, who are given the opportunity to get acquainted with recent theater productions from neighboring countries. RUTA Grupa Triglav was conceived as a series of festivals that would be held at intervals of several months in the host cities from which the signatories of the project come", according to a statement from the City Theatre.
The first RUTA (Regional Union of Theaters) festival was organized in the Belgrade Drama Theater in the first week of December 2019, and the host of the second festival, held from March 2 to 7, 2020, was the Podgorica City Theater.
