The dark period in which the Montenegrin National Theater (CNP) was in the past few years has now been erased, and the sun has returned to the house of the national theater, the actor pointed out. Slavko Kalezić at yesterday's media conference held at CNP on the occasion of the premiere of the new play.
The play "Youth without God", which according to the text Eden von Horvat is set by a young director from Serbia Tara Manic, will be premiered tomorrow at 20 p.m. on the Big Stage, and the Montenegrin National Theater will open the new theater season with it.
It is also the first play that will be performed under the patronage of the new director of the National Theatre, Marko Baćović, considering that the process of working on the play "The Effect" is being directed Danilo Marunović started during the tenure of the former director Željko Sošić. And the large ensemble gathered at this process confirmed the words of Kalezić: the sun has (again) warmed the CNP.
"The children asked me what the play I'm doing now is like. Among other things, I said that after many years I have the opportunity to play a real play in the CNP. Theater happened and art happened! We have the right show in every segment and in every sense of the word. I would like to thank the director for the invitation. I experienced a similar explanation once when I was working on another project, and then when Tara did it here, I couldn't believe it was happening. Thank you all," she said Branka Otašević who plays three characters in the play.
Slavisa Grubisa pointed out that he was grateful for the invitation to play in the national theater, because he had not had that opportunity in the last few years.
"I am very pleased that I got the chance to play in the Montenegrin National Theatre. First of all, thanks to director Marko and director Tara. The cooperation was exceptional, and what is especially important to me is that we had a real human relationship all the time," Grubiša emphasized.
Marko Baćović admitted that his appointment to the position of theater director "happened somewhat quickly and suddenly". He said that at the very beginning he did not have a conception of the work, but that he formed it after talking with the actors and others in the theater.
When it comes to choosing the text for his first project at the CNP, he said that it was important for him that the piece has a strong social context.
"Youth without God" is a work written by Horvat in 1936-1937. year, and it talks about the education of the youth in Nazi Germany, about the harsh indoctrination, it talks about how the ruling classes, the clique in power in the totalitarian system do not count on the fact that they will destroy their own youth", said Baćović, emphasizing that the treatment of God in this piece is is complex and complex...
"Basically, I would say that 'Youth without God' here in Montenegro could be translated as 'Youth who were killed from the head', or youth who do not have a critical attitude, who have been destroyed by propaganda to such an extent that they have no good landmark in life", repeats Baćović, proud of the work that will be installed.
He recalled that the work was banned in Nazi Germany, and that only 500 pieces survived the destruction. And yet, Baćović reminds, the work is available today and should be seen as a "message in a bottle", especially considering the numerous "threats, suspicions and dangerous things that are happening in our country, which have been happening for the last 10-20 - 30 years, and they still happen to this day".
Although the young director of 26 years, Tara Manić, shows the potential to create a spectacle in this piece, with twenty actors, and the Montenegrin National Theater has a strong capacity for that spectacle, said CNP director Marko Baćović.
"This was a big job for all of us. I am grateful to Marko Baćović that we took the novel that needs to be dramatized and that I had the opportunity to stage this work in the Montenegrin National Theater. It's unusual and difficult to make pieces like this, especially for a young director like me, so I feel this process of ours is a great internal success and I'm already happy with the result we all came to together," said Manić.
Dubravka Drakić was, in addition to the role, also in charge of the stage speech. She believes that the project was challenging, but with a lot of work, effort, will, dedication and discipline, a large part of what she wanted and hoped for professionally, will be achieved, she says. She pointed out that it is a text that is rarely performed "on our stages".
"This is not an ordinary play, this is a type of dialogue that is different than we might have expected," says Drakić and continues:
"I got an unusual role, I play the mother of my student. Even after many years, I am playing on the stage of the national theater and I really want to thank all the people in the theater, absolutely everyone, who helped us to present those roles in the right way", said Drakić.
They were joined on this project Tihana Ćulafić who recently became a member of the CNP ensemble.
"I have been a part of the ensemble since almost now and I am grateful for the trust shown in me, and it is an honor and a pleasure to be part of the ensemble and a piece produced by CNP after 20 years. Some strange constellation for me, because the last play I played in the production of this company was Horvat's text. This was an inspiring and wonderful process, and the welcome was wonderful," said Ćulafić, who plays two roles in the play.
And one of the particularly demanding roles is the character of the professor he portrays Miloš Pejović.
"I would look back on this piece. It was Marko Baćović who said that God is treated differently here. It is not the theological, religious aspect in which we place God, but in the context of a compass, so it would actually be 'Youth without a compass', a youth that is affected by mass hysteria, even though Nazi Germany was a specificity of the 20th century that, we hope, will never will not repeat again in world history. However, we can see how much influence mass hysteria has on the general state of consciousness of the youth. What is our responsibility and what are we doing to prevent extremism of the youth in any way, is a question that this play, among others, raises," said Pejović.
The young actors are the core of the play
An important segment of the play "Youth without God" was highlighted by all those present at the media conference, namely the youth, i.e. the acting students of the Faculty of Dramatic Arts from Cetinje, who are taking the stage for the first time: Pavle Bogojević, Milo Perović, Matija Memedović, Una Lučić, Stefan Vuković .
Older colleagues pointed out that their energy inspires and encourages. Because of them, he says, Jovan Dabović came to the press conference to support them, just as he does on the stage they share.
The director Manić noticed that the young people welcomed her with unusual warmth and pointed out that "they were the nucleus around which the play later revolved, and they played their roles stoically".
Dubravka Drakić, professor at FDU and colleague on stage, said that it is important to show them as much trust as possible, just as director Tara Manić and director Marko Baćović did.
"With our example, work and responsibility, we older people should show them how important it is for them to be the best we have and how important it is for them to feel that we are entrusting them with the future of building our cultural and identity space. We believe they can do better than we did. I believe that thanks to such projects, they will understand that there is room for their individual growth and development and for the realization of their artistic goals and results, and let me have the right to say this as someone who is a first generation FDU. I believe that good cooperation and trust in the youth of the Montenegrin theater will have a good effect on the quality of the performances in the repertoires of Montenegrin theaters," said Drakić.
Vukan Pejović is no longer the youngest member of the ensemble, and he, like the others, sent his support to his young colleagues.
"This text is very important and easily corresponds to today in all countries, because there are indications of the roughening of the youth. The play is real and phenomenal for the period in which we live and in which we work, and the team presented it in the right way", he said. All the young members of the ensemble expressed great gratitude for the opportunity.
The desire to normalize society
The young actor Pavle Bogojević reflected on the topicality and attractiveness of the play and the way it corresponds to our circumstances.
"It seems as if a new era of the CNP is really starting, and I hope that we young people will justify what I just stated. I think the play came at a time when we needed it. Until a year ago, we attributed all anomalies in society to one political entity. Now that we have finally freed ourselves from it and changed the government, we realize that this is not enough, but that it is necessary to change the system. This play will remind everyone who watches it that the fight is not over and that we must continue to fight, and that what has been culminating in Montenegro for the last year is something that we all have to work on and do our best to prevent more serious things from happening. This play shows that this is exactly how it starts, with small divisions, media signals, propaganda... I hope that this play will awaken in the viewers a desire for the normalization of this society", said the young actor.
