Digitization of cinema halls throughout Montenegro

The contract on the co-financing of the project of digitalization of cinema halls in cultural centers of six Montenegrin municipalities was signed today in Podgorica: Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Vesna Bratić, director of the Film Center of Montenegro (FCCG) Aleksandra Božović, director of the Berane Culture Center Slobodanka Ivanović, Nikšić Theater director Radinko Krulanović, Pljevlja Cultural Center director Nebojša Rubežić, Herceg Fest director Gordana Krcunović, Kolašin Cultural Center director Gorica Ilinčić and Plužine Cultural Center director Milenko Mićanović.

"The technical-technological improvement of theaters that perform screening activities in Montenegro, with the joint funds of the Ministry, the Film Center and cultural centers, will introduce the most modern digital technologies, restore and standardize cinema networks, will be an incentive for the development of the technical base of cinematography, as well as the education and professional training of employees in cultural centers. All these are priorities recognized by the Law on Cinematography and the National Program for the Development of Cinematography for the period 2018-2023," said Bratić.

The director of the FCCG addressed the audience and explained that this project will be completed in the mentioned cultural institutions by the end of 2022, and in all other municipalities by the end of 2023.

"This important project involves solving the issue of the necessary infrastructure, which will provide cultural center halls with modernly equipped spaces for the realization of screening activities. This is primarily intended to directly influence the development of cinematography in Montenegro, especially in municipalities that until now have not had adequate catches for the screening of films and for the development of the film audience. The project of digitization of screening halls is a continuation of one of the particularly significant activities of the cooperation of the line ministry, FCCG and the aforementioned municipalities, which contributes to the development and strengthening of Montenegrin cinematography in the long term," said Božović.

Bratić also said that she believes "that this project is just one in a series of successful ventures that are ahead of us, which will surely strengthen the common perspective and create new opportunities on the way of our successful cooperation".
