The "Rebellious Readers" group, which consists of female literary critics, announced tonight in Belgrade the first winners and winners of the "Štefica Cvek" regional award.

From that group, it was announced that this year's prize was awarded to: Marija Andrijašević for the book "The Land Without Dusk", Goran Ferčec for the book "About the Life of a Working Woman at the End of the Twentieth Century", Lejla Kalamujić for the book "Hurry and Invent a City", Senka Marić for the book "Gravitations", Ana Miloš for the book "End of vacation and other stories", Sonja Ražnatović for the book "Exit – Restart", Mihaela Šumić for the book "Herbarium of the Holy Death", Martina Vidajić for the book "Bedbugs", Nora Verde for the book "My dota", Oceanmore, Zagreb, 2021.

The names of the winners were announced at the event hosted by Ida Prester at the "Krokodil" center in Belgrade.

The "rebellious female readers" said that the "Štefica Cvek" award was conceived as a recognition of valuable texts that will not encourage competitiveness in the literary field, will not create strictly ranked hierarchies and will not mold the production every year into a narrow mold set forever, usually of one best work.

"This idea is in line with Štefica Cvek's goal, which is to affirm texts worthy of attention, and texts can deserve attention in various ways - by opening up new topics, original approaches to topics, stylistic or formal innovation, not only because they are the best. After all, we are reviewing and the very category of the best in literature - the best for what? For whom? Therefore, the number of selected works will change every year, in accordance with what the production has to offer," stated Bununjene readers.

"We read the works taking into account both the text and the context. The "politics" of the text is important to us, as well as the poetics - after all, we start from the fact that there is always a certain interweaving of one and the other. Thus, we construct an interpretation by looking at the historical, socio-political context of the work and on his communication with that context. At the same time, we also use the method of careful reading, paying attention to the language of the text, stylistic and formal procedures," said the rebellious readers

The "Štefica Cvek" award was established as a regional award, and this year it will cover the BHSC speaking area and all prose books that were published from January 1 to December 1, 2021.

The jury of "Rebellious Readers" included the editors of the Bookvica.net portal, Nađa Bobičić, Borisav Matić and Dara Šljukić, and two collaborators from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia, Maja Abadžija, editor of the Women's Reading Room at PEN Center BiH, and Ivana Dražić, editor of the Booksa portal. .hr.

"Rebellious Readers" announced that they will soon publish individual, more complete reviews of the awarded books.
