Founder of Sarajevo Film Festival (SFF), Mirsad Purivatra, left the position of festival director, which he held for the past 27 years, and announced that in the future he will perform the function of president of the Association Obala Art Centar, under whose auspices the Sarajevo Film Festival operates.
"I made the decision to change my position with the sincere belief that it is right for me and for SFF. I will continue to be part of the team that will take care of its healthy development and all strategic directions of action. I believe that this decision to leave the position of director will enable me to dedicate myself to some ideas that I have not had time for until now. My passion and energy remain tied to projects in the field of film and the creative industry. One of them is the already established creative hub Ponta Lopud," said Purivatra. He will succeed him in the position of festival director Jovan Marjanović, who until now managed the festival segment for industry and was co-director of SFF. Purivatra pointed out that he is proud of everything achieved during the past 27 years of the Sarajevo Film Festival.
"We started from scratch, during the siege of our city, and today we are an institution that is looked upon with respect and is gladly visited by film authors and the film industry of the region and the world. It was a journey where we encountered many challenges," he said. is the Purivatra.
He also pointed out that he is proud that, as the director of the festival, he had the honor of hosting the best domestic, regional and international filmmakers, including: Pavel Pavlikovsky, Morgan Freeman, Angelina Jolie, Robert De Niro, Willem Dafoe, Brad Pitt, Gaspar Noe, Alejandro Gonzalez Iñárritu, Alfonso Cuaron, Wim Wenders and many others.
