The literary community (KZ) "Vladimir Mijušković" from Nikšić, the oldest association of writers in Montenegro, is celebrating 54 years of existence, and on the eve of Community Day, an election assembly was held where the new leadership was elected. He was elected honorary president Dušan Govedarica, one of the founders of the CC, while he was elected president Spasoje Bajović. Miloš Kecojević is the director of the publishing business, Jovan Draskovic secretary, while the president of the assembly is M.Sc Slavko Milić.
"The electoral assembly was held under someone else's roof. I apostrophize this under someone else's roof because we don't have our own premises, but we have a firm promise from the Municipality that we will also be under the roof," Miloš Kecojević pointed out.
In its 54 years of existence, KZ has published over 650 titles, of various genres, by Montenegrin and Yugoslav authors.
"There are translations and editions of Italian, Romanian and Armenian poets and writers, as well as the first books of young creators who have established themselves, precisely in the Literary Community," reminded the Community, which was founded in 1968 by a group of young poets from Nikšić.
It was the Club of Young Writers, and the first president was Janko Brajković. Three years after its foundation, the club was named after the writer and professor of the Nikšić High School, Vladimir Mijušković, and after two decades of successful work, it grew into the Literary Community. Among the founders and members of the Community are some of the most important names in Montenegrin literature, such as Vito Nikolić, Milan Dug Krivokapić, Vukman Otašević, Dragan Radulović, Dušana Govedarica, Miroslav Jovanović Timotijev, Radislav Gardašević, Drago Mijović Godijelj, Gojko Janjušević...
A year after the establishment, they published the first book, the almanac "Cactus", a joint collection of members of the Community.
"When the Association marks 54 years of fruitful literary work of its members, publishing activities and organizing numerous literary events, we can say that it represents an unavoidable segment of the cultural scene and Montenegrin literature," said Kecojević.
He reminded that the Association with the Nikšić SO was the organizer of the famous "Nikšić Literary Meetings", a manifestation that could not pass without the most important names of Yugoslav literature, such as Meša Selimović, Mihaila Lalić, Desanka Maksimović, Miodrag Bulatović, Miroslav Antić, Duško Trifunović... During the decades-long existence, she was the organizer or co-organizer of significant literary and other cultural manifestations, both in Nikšić and in Montenegro, such as "With a Poet at Midnight", "Dani Loge", "Auto(r) na korzu", Book Fair on Trg slobode , the forum "Rade Tomov", "The book against the Internet".
The literary community "Vladimir Mijušković" established and awards two prestigious literary awards. The "Zaloga" award was established in 1986 and is awarded for an artistic vision of the homeland in poetry, prose or other artistic expressions, as well as for journalism. The first winner of "Zaloga" was Vito Nikolić, after whom the second award, which has been awarded since 1996 for a book of lyrics, is named after him, exclusively to Montenegrin authors.
Today, the Literary Community has around thirty members of the older, middle and younger generations from Nikšić, Podgorica, Plužina, Danilovgrad, Bar, Kotor...
Last year, an anthology titled "Stormy Fields of Poetry" was published, in Montenegrin and English, edited by Spasoje Bajović and Jovan Drašković.
The community established cooperation with all similar institutions in the former Yugoslavia, as well as with Italians, Romanians, Russians, Bulgarians and Japanese.
