Interesting, award-winning, engaging, intimate, film productions that question global themes and phenomena, both universal and unique, along with several novelties, will make the 13th International Feature Documentary Film Festival Underhill Fest even more attractive, energetic and of higher quality compared to previous editions. This is concluded on the basis of the repertoire that was officially announced yesterday at the press conference, and which is also available on the website underhillfest.me i social networks festival.
The official opening of Underhill Fest (UF) will be held tonight at 20.30:21 p.m. in Podgorica, on the court of the "Budućnost" basketball club in Njegoševo Park, followed by a screening of the film from the out-of-competition selection "Rosellinijevi" and a concert by the tribute band at XNUMX p.m. Amy Winehouse "Amy's House". Just like the awards given by the festival, "Dandelion", Underhill brings to the capital a unique energy, joy, vivaciousness, fluttering, but also recognition and presence on all sides and in all segments of life, society, film, despite various circumstances.
"'The Rossellini' is a documentary about the family of the famous film author Roberto Rossellini, from the perspective of his eldest grandson Alexandra", it is stated in the description of the film, and the artistic director and selector of the festival, Vuk Perovic he pointed out yesterday that the film has several layers and topics it talks about.
"It is a film about one of the richest film families in the history of cinema. It is not a film that only talks about the great Italian director, about the film or author's legacy, but also about everything that such a figure, who is important for the whole world, leaves in the hands of one family", he pointed out.
The complete program takes place on the field in Njegošev Park, from 21 p.m., except for the "In Focus" program, which, in cooperation with the Center for Women's Rights, will be held in the "Radosav Ljumović" National Library and starts at 18 p.m.
Traditionally, the entrance will be free at the opening and closing of the festival. Individual tickets at a price of two euros, as well as a set consisting of tickets for all days, a t-shirt and a jacket at a price of 15 euros, can be purchased at the entrance. Entrance is free for students.
A rich program and a difficult task for the jury
UF traditionally presents three selections - Regional, International and out-of-competition, in which, in addition to the film "Rosellinijevi", this year there was also a work from Serbia by a director Katherine Hart.
"An extremely interesting, entertaining, witty and clever musical production, an intimate documentary that follows the cultural differences in the relationship between the musicians Faith and Branko, will be shown at the closing of the festival on June 15 after the award ceremony," announced Perović.
When it comes to the Regional selection, he pointed out that the film "Without" directed by him stands out Luka Papić which comes to UF after Beldoks, where it won the award for the best Serbian film.
”It is one of the films that treats our reality in an interesting and very humorous way, similar to 'Telenovela: Gray in Color'. Filip Martinović. We have interesting, award-winning works that recently had their premieres at important world festivals, films that question social issues, those that concern not only our society, but the whole world, and the Croatian "Zica" is like that. "The international selection consists of films that deal with important topics in their own way, from intimate stories, internal problems, to those that deal with big topics like the tsunami that happened in Japan in a similar and/or similar way," said Perović.

"It will not be easy for the jury in either selection, and I am glad that every year we make the jury difficult when it comes to making a decision on the 'Dandelion' awards," said Perović.
UF spokesman Miroslav Miro Minic he also reminded who makes up the jury of this selection: film critic, curator, editor and translator Dina Pokrajac, who is also the director of the Subversive Film Festival, director of photography and producer from Montenegro Ivan Cojbašić and an award-winning film director from Serbia Ognjen Glavonic.
"Seven short" with two Montenegrin authors
One of this year's novelties is the program of a short documentary called "Seven Short".
"It is something that has been simmering for a long time, but the implementation of which has been delayed by the corona virus. A few years ago, we felt that many authors from the region who are involved in short documentary film wanted to be part of our festival. Earlier, we showed some productions, mostly by Montenegrin authors, in the non-competitive selection, but from this year we decided to start with that story as well", explained Perović and pointed out that the selection includes seven productions.
As part of the selection, the film "To decorate marble with flowers" by a young Montenegrin author will be premiered Sara Stijović which with its achievements greatly promises great things and a rich career.
"The only son of a Montenegrin family dies in a traffic accident - the family loses the head of the house. A song with tears is heard - a lament. The deceased's sister sings. In addition to being a sign of mourning, it is believed that the mourner is one of the conditions for the departure of the dead to the other world. "To decorate marble with flowers" is a story about a brother and sister - a story about grief and death, but also a story about the love we put into a new life," the description of the film points out.
Films from this selection start at 21:XNUMX p.m. (except at the opening and closing of the festival), and "To adorn the marble with flowers" is on the repertoire on Thursday. "Vow" by a Montenegrin author Mladen Ivanovic produced by the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Zagreb is scheduled for June 12. The film follows Nikola (33), who lists all his ancestors, from the beginning of his lineage to himself, over a period of 250 years.
"With each ancestor, he tells in which war he famously fought, which medal he received and where he left his bones. As a contrast to the audio narrative, it is opposed by a visual narrative that reveals an abandoned and contemplative cemetery in the center of the city. "Nikola's plan is to continue the tradition of warfare on, today, foreign territories," the description states.
The rest of the selection consists of films from Serbia "An Apple and Two Cherries" Mine Petrović and “Custom” Dejan Petrović, the movie “Displaced” Samira Karahoda from the Republic of Kosovo and from Croatia "Pater" Martine Marasovic and "Traffic" Dora Slakoper.
The jury of this selection consists of: a fourth-year student at the Faculty of Architecture in Podgorica Sara Tomic, film director and screenwriter David Todorovic and a student at the Faculty of Visual Arts at the "Mediterranean" University Sara Lakicevic, announced Minic.
"In focus" on inequality in gender relations
The traditional division of power and the examination of inequality in gender relations, which is reflected in the very structure of the film language, is the focus of this year's program "In Focus".
Through the films "Brainwashing: sex, camera, power" by the author Nina Menkes and "Terra Femme" director Courtney Stevens, as well as through accompanying discussions after the screenings, Tanja Markuš from the Center for Women's Rights announced that all those present will have the opportunity to observe and share their opinion on the issues of "male" and "female" views on various topics.
Nina Menkes' film is on the program on June XNUMX, a day later Courtney Stevens' film, and after the screenings, discussions moderated by the designer will follow. Milica Šaranović, in which they participate: an actress Jelena Djukic, producer Jelena Mišeljić, director Dusan Vuleković and historian Miloš Vukanović.
The secretary of the Secretariat for Culture and Sports of the Capital City of Podgorica shared her joy on the occasion of the new edition of the festival Ana Medigović who reminded that Underhill is part of the Podgorica cultural summer program.
The mission to (in)make society better

The cans will be supplemented by audience votes and then recycled
Representative of the ReCan Foundation Milica Vujović Vuković announced that during the festival, the collection of empty cans will be organized, which will later be handed over for recycling, as part of the "Every can counts" campaign.
