The best performance of this year's 16th Mediterranean Theater Festival "Purgatorija" in Tivat is the play "Miracle in Šargan" produced by the Yugoslav Drama Theater from Belgrade.
It was decided unanimously by the jury Stella Miskovic, playwright, president of the jury, Lina Njiric, producer, Aleksandar Vujović, the director, after watching six films that were in competition for this year's "Purgatroria" awards.
"The all-time text Ljubomir Simović presented with a characteristic stage aesthetic Jagoš Marković, represents a meaningful and visually rounded whole. With skillful directorial solutions, expressive artistry in expression, the director loads the most subtle layers of this play into the performance, and the great acting interpretation and other stage aspects contribute to the overall impression. Schopenhauer speaking of man, he says: "Desire is suffering until it is fulfilled, and fulfillment, i.e. happiness, is followed by new suffering", precisely in this sense, this play reaches to the core of human nature", it is stated in the decision of the jury on the declaration of "Miracles in Šargan " with the best performance of this year's "Purgatory".
Also by a unanimous decision of the jury members, the award for the best acting performance was awarded Sanja Markovic for the role of Cmija in the play "Miracle in Šargan".
"The extremely precise performance of Sanja Marković, whose stage presence simultaneously radiates seduction and innocence, sensual and ethereal, vulnerable and firm and which with apparent ease embodies the psychological nuances of the character she interprets, with everything, especially expressive facial expressions, enhances the impression of the play and energetically encompasses viewers", explained the jury.
The award for acting bravura was awarded to a veteran of the Montenegrin theater Slobodan Marunović for the role of Mr. Đurić in the play "The Deceased" in the co-production of the Tivat Culture Center and the Montenegrin National Theater from Podgorica.
The explanation states that Marunović "genre-specifically and skilfully shapes Mr. Đurić as a self-confident, unscrupulous representative of the modern world, in which money and success represent the highest values, and underlines the symbolic universality of the plot, establishes a strong exchange with the audience and thus completes the picture with which he wants to present society in the play "Deceased".
The special award for artistic achievement went to the performance "Masquerade under the bath" produced by the Theater "Marin Držić" from Dubrovnik.
"The director with a skillful command of theatrical technique Paolo Tišljarić conjures up a lyrical dramatic play about the dying maid Anica. Through carefully placed mise-en-scenes, a quality selection of musical compositions that are adequately placed at the service of the actors' interpretation, present for most of the play's duration, and as such significantly contribute to the harmony of dynamics and rhythm.
"Through subtly solved transitions between individual scenes, and a well-solved interaction between photography, stage movement and set design, the director strongly and believably evokes the atmosphere of a typical Mediterranean drama from Dubrovnik from the middle of the XNUMXth century, thus building a homogeneous whole with a striking visual expression", he writes in explanation.
The festival jury awarded the "Ivana Tomičić" theater award, named after the young Montenegrin actress who died prematurely, to the actress Larry Dragovic for her exceptional contribution to the development of theatrical expression.
