"Great Captain" in memory of Dusan Đurišić

"The Great Captain" poetry evening dedicated to literary creativity Dusan Đurišić, was held at the end of last week in the "Mihailo Miho Vuković" City Library in Danilovgrad, organized by the Cultural and Information Center "Bijeli Pavle" and the Danilovgrad Culture Center.

The students of the "Vuko Jovović" Primary School spoke in front of a large audience. Lara Becanović i Anđela Vujadinović, poets Dragisa Jovovic i Slobodan Vukanović, animator of cultural activities Božidarka Beba Popović and journalist and publicist Dragan Mitov Đurović.

Dušan Đurišić, author of numerous books for children and adults, translations and songs, died in July of this year, and was born in 1932 in Gradinje near Caribrod, today's Dimitrovgrad. He finished high school in Titograd, and studied Serbo-Croatian language and literature at the Faculty of Philosophy in Skopje.

He was a poet, storyteller, playwright, literary critic, literary translator and singer, satirist, aphorist, anthologist, publisher. He was the director of the "Radosav Ljumović" library and IC "Trag" in Titograd, the head of the Culture Department of the Republic Secretariat for Education, Culture and Science of Montenegro, as well as the long-term president of the Association of Montenegrin Writers for Children and Young People and the editor-in-chief of the literary magazine for "Smile" children. Member of the Montenegrin PEN Center, Matica Montenegrin and the Montenegrin Association of Independent Writers, and among other things, he is the initiator of literary events for children in Montenegro.

He is the recipient of twenty domestic and international awards and prizes, and in 2017 he became a member of the World Literary Association for Peace and Culture.
