The solo exhibition of Slavenko Rakočević - Rakoča was opened last night in the gallery of the Native Museum in Kolašin. We are talking about a painter who, as art historian Draginja Kujović said, did not surrender to the taste of the audience, and whose work "can be classified as the most spontaneous and significant achievements of talent in Montenegrin contemporary painting".
"Rakočević has captivated the painting public of Montenegro for more than three decades with his appearance in the field of fine arts. Art critics say that he 'paints for his soul' and that he 'likes to exhibit his paintings as a specific way of communicating with the environment'. Unobtrusive by nature. Harmonized life and artistic biographies. He entered the most significant circles of art events in our country. He carefully presents his observations while observing the exhibitions of famous Montenegrin painters. Despite all these modern contemporary art movements, Slavenko Rakočević Rakoč remained his own," said Kujović.
Rakočević, she reminded, periodically exhibits his works, and "his creativity is not divided into themes and cycles". He paints, according to Kujović, according to motifs, according to periods "with variations of the surreal and the real - figural composition in the area, portrait in the environment, landscape and classical form of portrait". He is a master of soft colored surfaces when he paints landscapes, said the art historian.
"Color is the main element of his artistic expression, it dominates the composition. When observing his creativity by periods, it is difficult to find any significant deviations from his established painting language, energetic, bright, full of ideas in color, lyrically sensitive. The most mature area of his creativity is portraiture, in which the Rakoc painter managed to assert himself. The first paintings he did were portraits Portrait of a girl, Portrait of the painter's aunt. The portrait genre is a confirmation of his painting talent. The portrait form is clear and firmly modeled with a pasty color that dominates the drawing," said Kujović.
Rakočević, as she explained, brings portrait disunity with different art techniques - oil on canvas, ink, ink... All of his portraits, said Kujović, possess the psychological traits of the character he paints, in terms of color and facial expression.
The exhibition was opened by the President of the Municipality, Marta Šćepanović, according to whose opinion, Rakočević is "the greatest painter among basketball players and the greatest basketball player among painters."
"Older generations remember Slavenko Rakočević Rakoč as one of the greatest of the constellation of the most famous generations of Montenegrin basketball. I think we would not be wrong if we presented him to today's young generations as the greatest painter among basketball players and the greatest basketball player among painters. But most certainly and above all as a great artist. An artist, who created and continues to create art in every movement of his hand, be it with a ball or a pin. We witness the beauty of his movements tonight. Šćepanović assessed that Rakočević in the past decades "affirms his homeland in the best possible way and returns to it again and again".
