Premiere of the play "EXHIBITED" tonight in Podgorica

The play "EXPOSED", directed by Sandra Vujović in the co-production of the Independent Theater Scene "Bunt" and the Tivat Culture Center, it will be premiered today in Podgorica, in the hall of the Dodest Cultural and Information Center "Budo Tomović" at 20 p.m.

The piece was created as a result of a project initiated in 2019, based on the idea of ​​Vujović, and is based on an artistic-research approach to the subject of women's exposure to various forms of violence and discrimination. Thus, the play brings a dramatic collage, an omnibus that analyzes the genesis of violence against women, and the text was written by five women who gathered around this topic, presenting an analysis of the causes and consequences of the unequal relationship that women face even today.

Along with Vujović, the text was also worked on Marijana Aracki i Katarina Nikolić from Belgrade, and from Montenegro Theodore Kip i Ana Lekovic, while the text got its final form when it reached the hands of actresses who identified with the theme and motifs and upgraded it. The cast consists of Anđelija Rondović, Smiljana Martinović, Anđela Radović i Marija Radusinović who is an academic painter by profession. The participation of the young painter brings something new when it comes to the Montenegrin theater scene, Vujović revealed.

"In this play, we will illustrate, that is, draw for society how women actually feel because of discrimination, because of misogyny, because of sexism, because of all the negative phenomena and anomalies of our society, which are directed towards women. In that domain, we deliberately draw and will deliberately poke a finger in the eye, because we think it is necessary... I hope the audience will enjoy it, and I am sure that no one expects to see this approach to a feminist story and the fight for women's rights, on the way we do it on stage," she said.

An important segment of the play is that Radusinović will paint the events and work process on stage, in front of the audience, i.e. illustrate the condition, emotions and internal scars left by the patriarchal society, Vujović explained.

"During the rehearsals, but also during the performances, more such works of art will be created, and the idea is that at the end of the theater season, an auction exhibition will be organized where the works of art will be found. All funds collected will be donated to the Safe Women's House," said Vujović.

Radusinović said that many individual and different, yet common and the same voices and emotions will be expressed during the performance. The young actress Smiljana Martinović pointed out that the play "EXPOSED" is primarily a form of activism, and Radović revealed that the approach to this piece will surprise the audience because it is most similar to epic theater.

On behalf of the co-producer, CZK Tivat, Diana Sindik pointed out that this is the fifth premier of that cultural institution during this year, and she also shared her personal experience, which is one of the indicators of the existence of gender-based discrimination, at different social levels, from family, society, employer... .

And the name of the Investment and Development Fund (IRF), which supported the project, executive director Irena Radović she pointed out that this play is a timely and important project that is both rebellious and emancipatory, and at the same time makes a strong contribution to a more democratic and prosperous state.

"I must point out that as a woman and as someone who experiences this issue with a special sensibility, she went through the pages of the script with very strong emotions. They are very deep, painful and strong at the same time and convey a strong and very important truth about the position of women in Montenegrin society, about the general state of general inequality of women and, on the other hand, society's response to violence, the patriarchal patterns that were served to us and the truth then and now." , said Radovic.

The goal of the complete ensemble is to point out all the moments of female exposure to different, hidden forms of violence.

"It is violence that, at first glance, does not seem like that to us, so very often we are not even aware that we are victims. These are the acts of violence that we have lived with and that have become an integral part of our lives, the lives of our mothers, grandmothers and great-grandmothers. That is the traditional violence that was passed down from generation to generation, and which we often, in ignorance, call tradition. In this play, we paint the many animalities of society caused by patriarchy. We literally illustrate the conditions and scars it causes. Using satire, we criticize what had to be changed and eradicated in society a long time ago - sexism, misogyny and discrimination. During each performance of this play, two artistic processes will take place in front of the audience's eyes - a dramatic work, a work being performed, and a work of art in the making," said Vujović.

The scenario also delighted the Secretariat for Culture and Sports of the Capital City of Podgorica, of which she is the secretary Ana Medigović reminded that "it is not easy to push the project to the end", and that this play will succeed.

The expert consultant and in charge of stage speaking is an actress Katarina Krek. He composed the music for the play Vesko Lazović, the dolls are signed Milena Jane, light Danilo Malović, and the production team consists of Dubravka Maticic, Vladimir Cvijetic i Kristina Gacevic.

"What the audience will see on stage is an unexpected approach to the topic, but in our own and original way, and I hope that the audience will recognize the sincerity," said Vujović.
