Talking about the poet, writer, dramatist Dušan Govedarica, and not mentioning the karst and glades of Golija, Jagorčevin and the "land that is nowhere else" is incomplete. Dušan and Golija became one a long time ago.
"Dušan Govedarica belongs to the ranks of those rare poets who managed to defend their homeland with verses and leave a precious lyrical experience about it... Through magical weaving, one Golija grew into an inspirational and thematic starting point, into the most frequent word, into a main noun that stands side by side with with the nouns mother, father, freedom, home and poetry. If Govedarica was seduced by the beauty of his homeland, today he seduces us with the beauty of poetic language," she said. Andjela Pekovic, editor of the program at JU "Zahumlje" at Dušan's author's dinner organized in honor of World Poetry Day.
Peković, speaking about Dušan's poetry for adults, pointed out that his verses are remembered and mentioned, and that all the greatness of the author, to whom the Association of Montenegrin Writers for Children and Youth presented him with a lifetime achievement award, "rests in his intention to beautify, enrich, magnify with the soul of everything he talks about".
"Govedarica can proudly point out that his birthplace did not give up on him. On the contrary, Golija moans every time he mentions her in the song and when he returns to her, because he knows him, because he respects him and because he looks forward to him as his own child. I believe that Govedarica, as he once said, going into his songs was actually going on vacation. It was there that he was his own and no one else's, it smelled of youth and love the most, he sometimes got sick from the song, but also sought solace in the new song", Peković concluded.
She presented Dušan's creativity for children Rada Draganić, poet, aphorist and member of the Literary Club (KK) "Poenta Poetika". As she pointed out, what makes a writer current and famous is that they can be read by all generations, and this is exactly the case with Dušan's poetry and that is what allows it to live.
"Besides the recognition he received for his poetry, the biggest reward is that children accepted his verses and his work is a guest in primary schools. The uniqueness of his poetry lies mainly in combining the humorous with the accurate depiction of the reality of children and their incidents and accidents. The poet addresses young people, respecting both the uniqueness of the individual and the universality of childhood. Just like the real life of young people, the world of the characters in Dušan's poems is also immediate and dynamic," said Draganić.
The goal of Dušan Govedarica's poetry, according to her, is entertaining-humorous, imaginative, playful.
"The cowgirl sees children in children, and in childhood an autonomous and value-superior world," she said.
Dušan Govedarica's author's evening was organized by the "Poenta Poetika" Literary Club, and in addition to celebrating World Poetry Day and presenting Govedarica from a different perspective, it was an opportunity for the Association of Montenegrin Writers for Children and Youth to present Govedarica with an award for life's work
Žarko Vučinić, president of the Association, said that Govedarica represents the core of the Association, and that its poetic fabric is "so powerful, specific and unique".
"Niksic is a city of poets. It is binding. City of bohemians, great thinkers, city Dug Krivokapić, Vito Nikolić, but also the city of Dušan Govedarica", he said Branko Vuković, president of the Assembly of the Association, which marked three decades of its existence this year.
Last month, Govedarica received a lifetime achievement award from the oldest association of writers in Montenegro, the "Vladimir Mijušković" Literary Association, which he participated in founding. As he said, he did not expect any award, but they made him happy, because, as he pointed out with a smile, "I can get awards when I have to". And he also decided to make loyal readers happy and reward them for their loyalty with a new book that should be published this year.
"I didn't think about the awards, and I didn't recognize myself as much as I was praised. I have the book, I just need to sit down and put it in order. I will probably publish it this year, and it will be an enjoyable book for both children and adults. The way things have turned out for us with books, telephones and miracles, we have to deal with it boldly to return the book to the pedestal it deserves", said the writer who is still writing his "Childhood Reading Book".
The mediator of the program, organized as part of the March repertoire of the Nikšić cultural scene, was Tijana Vujović, who also recited the poetry of Dušan Govedarica, together with Miloš Jocović.

President of the Club "Poenta Poetica", Goran Radojicic, said that they wanted to expand the circle of people who deal with Dušan's work in different ways, especially among young people, and for the audience to hear how generations 50 years after Govedarica experience his poetry.
And the audience had the opportunity to watch a video retrospective of significant moments from the poet's life, but also to find out that some of his poems were also musically arranged.
"In the XNUMXs, Dušan was recognized on the Yugoslav art scene as an extremely fruitful creator, so his lyrics were also used to create music. Serbian acoustic rock duet Tamara i Nenad they recorded two of Dušan's songs - 'Ako nisi verovala' and 'Pred kraj neba'", said Radojičić.
