The best children's books published in 2022 were declared "Legends of Kotor", published by the "Museum" of Kotor Milka Kolundžić, as well as "Đurđa introduces you to the snakes of Montenegro", author's edition Bojane Uskoković Krvavac.
That was the decision of the jury, which consisted of prof. Ph.D Sofija Kalezić, prof. Ph.D Andrijana Nikolić i Žarko Vučinić, and on the basis of the competition previously published by the Association of Writers for Children and Youth.
"We believe that the proposed candidates have shown the most important qualities in creativity for children and young people - conceptual innovation, creativity, imagination, playfulness, instructiveness, educativeness and the courage to approach children in a receptive and flexible way with topics such as the world of the legendary, knowledge about zoology and the usefulness of animals which we are afraid of (snakes)," the jury's announcement states.
Thirteen high-quality literary works were submitted to the competition, so the expert jury decided to award other awards as well. "Bundle of Treasures at the End of the Rainbow" was declared the best poetry book for children up to nine years old. Goran Duks Popović and "Childhood Bench" Zoran Mićović.
Slobodan Zoran Obradović received recognition for a book of poetry for children aged nine to eleven, for the work "Without surprise, please" in the publication "Stihom govorim" and JU Center for Culture "Vojislav Bulatović Strunjo" from Bijelo Polje.
The author's book "Only one more story" was awarded for the illustration Aleksandre Šljivić, whose publisher is "APprint", and he is an illustrator Petar Janjušević. Recognition was given to the youngest creators Uni i Emi Perazic for the collection of poems "Together", published by "Obodsko slovo", as the firstborn of 14-year-old twin sisters, shaped into a collection of poems.
For affirming the value of reading and popularizing literature for children and young people, the following authors were praised: Dragana Kršenković Brković, Nataša Karadžić, Vesna Radović, Olivera Banović, Nataša Žurić and Aleksandra Šljivić.
