Ignorance, lack of education, poverty, poor living conditions, when intertwined, lead to a lack of morals and freedom of the common man and a society that is increasingly subordinated to the powerful blinded by money, profit and function, deaf to truth and justice. In such a system, it seems impossible to remain honest and clean, and anyone who freely dares to do so by pointing out irregularities for the sake of the common good, slowly but surely, becomes characterized as an enemy of the people.

The play "The Enemy of the People" by the Macedonian National Theater and the problems it masterfully described Henrik Ibsen, and directed Nina Nikolić, delighted the audience of the Montenegrin National Theater on Wednesday evening. The strength, but also the lightness of the acting ensemble that he led Nikola Ristanovski, attracted applause, but also reactions to the lines that touch us, laughter at seemingly ordinary phenomena of which we ourselves are the actors, and then culminated in a thunderous standing ovation at the end, as a confirmation of that theatrical magic that does not require some set design and costume spectacle, but " only” brings life.

The topicality of the work created about 150 years ago and the (dangerously) close correspondence with the circumstances in which we live, indicate that man has always been the same, prone to moral lapses, lies, stupidity... After a real acting class, Ristanovski said that it is a cliché to speak about the universality and modernity of good dramatic literature, pointing out that it is probably not so much timeless as that things do not actually change.

"Man is difficult to change in his essence. Regardless of the system, the historical moment, the circumstances, even democracy, man is probably unchanging, with all his weaknesses and porosities... That's why all this is current, because systems change, human history changes, but man has not progressed much ", he pointed out.

The audience eagerly welcomed him, and he didn't hide his joy about playing in CNP either.

"It's always a holiday for me in Podgorica. And more than normal, I am emotionally attached to Podgorica. It's not courtesy, because I don't have time for courtesy. "Some important things in my life happened in Podgorica, so here I have serious flashbacks and I feel like home," he said.
