Political horror and comedy by Luka Papić and Srđa Vuč

A political action that can be perceived as comedy or horror, depending on the viewer and his mood that day, is presented in the film "Called and Called" which was shown on Sunday evening, on the fifth day of the 14th International Documentary Film Festival UndrhillFest in Podgorica.

Authors of achievements Luka Papić i Srdja Vuco last year at Underhill, they won the Special Jury Award for the film "Without", and already then, in an interview with "Vijesti", Vučo announced their new joint project, which talks about the elections in Serbia in 1990. For these purposes, they interviewed well-known actors of the political scene at the time, among whom many are still known to the public today, but also others, whom many have forgotten, and which the authors present to the audience (again) through their film, ignoring the popularity of the politicians with whom they previously discussed...

Papić explained how they came to give space to the so-called outsiders in the conversation after the screening.

"When we reviewed the collected archival material, we started recording interviews with conventional participants in those elections, that is, with the major and mainstream political candidates, so that at some point they would realize that they are actually always telling the same story, which is boring and which, although legitimate and relevant , only provides historical accuracy and facts, but does not provide any human level to the story. So we decided to focus on the outsiders and that each of them carries some narratives: from the replacement of one idolatry with another, the awakening of nationalism, and then to the absurdity of those, somehow rigged elections, as well as to the final confusion after the elections where they break ideologies of brotherhood and unity and national socialism... We decided to follow the story of those characters", Papić pointed out and added that the film brings a story about the specific relationship between an individual and politics.

Described as a political comedy with tragic consequences, "Called and Invited" tells the story of four former presidential candidates in the 1990 elections in Serbia. Today, the "misfit antiheroes" remember their participation in the first multi-party elections and relive that, for all of them, fateful event.

Vučo said after the screening that the author's idea was for the interviewees to decide for themselves how they want to present themselves to the world, again, after 30 years, which they gladly welcomed and each of them used in their own way...

Lives and realities - society, relationships, individual

The program "In focus" realized by UnderhillFest with the Center for Women's Rights opens today's repertoire, at 18 pm in the "Radosav Ljumović" National Library, the director's film "Veće od trauma" will be screened. Vedrane Pribačić.

"The film follows three years of the condition and experiences of three women who were raped in the Homeland War, as well as the process of their empowerment through telling shocking life stories. Marija feels that she does not deserve to be free, Katica is panicked about the slightest change. Ana feels small, lonely she is isolated from everyone. She is the only Serbian woman in the group, and the question of nationality is still a burden that weighs on the female protagonists. The fact that they were all raped by Serbian soldiers does not diminish the group's distrust of Ana... Now they discover who they could be without the trauma they are dealing with identify, which changes their lives and relationships," the film's description states.

The world premiere of the film "Percentages of Life" will be held at the "Dragan Ivanović" basketball court in Njegoševo Park at 21:XNUMX p.m. Vladimir Perović. The subtitle of the film states that it is a "chronicle of the golden age in the land of honey, milk and statistics on the strange side of history, truth and civilization".

"Holy statistics. Exactness. Are numbers and percentages a true reflection of reality!? Can statistics express life!? The life and reality of a society? The glass facades of modern buildings, modern life help us to get closer to the answer. Are the reflections in them closer reality and life rather than images Picasso or Dahlia...!?" is written in the film's synopsis.

The creative documentaries of Vladimir Perović, who is also a guest of UnderhillFest, have been screened at festivals in the country and around the world, and have won 111 awards to date.

The film "Mlungu - The White King" by the Croatian director David Lušičić, who is also a guest of UnderhillFest, will be shown at 21.30:XNUMX p.m., also on the basketball court.

At the center of his film is a former sailor Branimir Orac, who was arrested in South Africa in 2009 with 230 kilograms of cocaine hidden on a cargo ship. After five years of imprisonment of Lušičić's protagonist Mlungu - the White King, as he was called behind bars, the film presents his confrontation with the challenges of a normal life. The film is shown as part of the regional selection.

And as part of the international selection, at 22.50:XNUMX p.m., the director's film "Pawnshop" will be shown on the basketball court Lukasz Kowalski.

"Jola and Wiesiek are two eccentric Polish businessmen who run what is probably the largest pawn shop in Europe. However, their fellow citizens, impoverished after the closure of the nearby mines, pawn all the items. Along with their junk, they bring their own problems, but neither Wiesiek's crazy marketing ideas nor Jola's tender hearts are unable to maintain a business that is doing worse," the description reads.

Although the pawnshop makes losses, it becomes a center in the life of the local community.

"Soon he finds himself on the brink of bankruptcy, which puts the relationship between Jola and Wiesiek into question. Disaster threatens, and the owners try one last time to save their business and their love," the synopsis adds.

In the event of a storm, the films planned for Njegošev park will be shown in CKZ Ribnica.
