The Kotor Children's Theater Festival, the 31st in a row, opened on Sunday at the Summer Stage in the Old Town, the organizers announced.
They stated that the festival was opened by the symbolic handing over of the city keys to the children, which were handed to them by the President of the Municipality of Kotor, Vladimir Jokić.
"The handover of the keys, which was received by the girl Đeljana Ibraima (13), telling the mayor that they were in safe hands and that he should not worry, was staged under the title "Imagine, children..." directed and written by Dejan Đonović, and produced by Kotorski of the children's theater festival," the announcement says.
The festival is organized by the Municipality of Kotor, the Secretariat for Culture, Sports and Social Activities, under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Media, and under the high patronage of the President of Montenegro.
Montenegrin President Jakov Milatović wished the children to enjoy every moment of their lives as they do during festival days.
"Children, wake up from your sleep and fill Kotor with your smiles, games and purity that only a child's soul exudes and radiates. Wake up all of us adults, to remind us how magical and pure the world of childhood is. Help us to preserve Kotor, Boka, our Montenegro and the entire planet Earth, which we often forget is our common and only home, for you children," said Milatović.
The announcement states that Jokić was given the keys that "unlock the heart of the city of Kotor" by the small admiral of the Bokel Navy, Vihor Moškov (10), who told him "to place them in safe hands for the duration of the Festival".
Jokić said that Kotor has formally become a city whose keys are held by children, but that it must be and is a city of children every day of the year.
"As much as we have contributed to the children in our city being raised in the right way, loved and educated, we have contributed to the future of our city," said Jokić.
The competition program of the Festival starts tonight at 20 pm.
"In the Cultural Center "Nikola Đurković" the performance "Possibility of having fun with birds" of the BITEF Theater will be performed," says the announcement.
As it is added, on the Pjaca od cinema at 20:30 p.m., the accompanying program will be opened by children from the theater troupe "Magicians" of the public preschool institution "Dragan Kovačević" from Nikšić, who will present the program "Wonderland".
It was announced that at 21:30 p.m. on the Summer Stage, a competitive performance of the Snow Queen, performed by the "Duško Radović" Little Theater, will be performed.
"The theater program of this year's Kotor Children's Theater Festival consists of 15 performances, 11 of which are competitive," said the organizers.
They said that theater troupes from Israel, Sweden, Spain, Italy, North Macedonia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro will perform.
In addition to the theater program, the Festival has a rich educational and theoretical program, children's stage creations, as well as an art and literary program.
