Pianist, university professor and executive and artistic director of KotorArt, Ratimir Martinović, after more than 10 years, will hold a recital in his hometown, Kotor. The "Intime" concert will be held today in the monastery complex of St. Nikola in Prčanje, at 21 p.m.
At the concert, which he dedicates to his mother Lilies, will perform the works Vasilija Mokranjac namely: Theme and Eight Variations (1947), Seven Etudes (1951-52), Six Games (1950-57), as well as three suites Fragments (1955-56), Echoes (1973) and Intime (1973). This concert will also mark a big and significant anniversary at KotorArt, 100 years since the birth of one of the most important composers of symphonic and piano music from this area, Vasilij Mokranjec.
His piano opus, which includes 13 sets of compositions, as well as independent pieces, with a total duration of two and a half hours, was revived again when Ratimir Martinović premiered it in 2016 as part of the BEMUS festival, and published it at the end of 2019. on two compact discs published by Naxos Grand Piano.
For "MusicWeb International" in the review of this double compact disc, a Robert Nemecek for "Piano News" he points out that "behind every phrase you can sense a pianist who devoted himself soul and body to this extremely physically and mentally demanding music", and Philip Borg-Wheeler for Fanfare Magazine he wrote:
"The music on these two CDs offers plenty of variety - from large, massive, technically demanding pieces, to intimate, thought-provoking, or silent musical explorations. The quality of the recording is excellent, while the accompanying text of the CD, written by the performer Ratimir Martinović, is very informative and useful".
