The film project "Counteradmiral" by the Montenegrin director and screenwriter Mladen Ivanovic won the Beldox award at this year's Balkan Stars Pitch, which was realized as part of the AJB (Al Jazeera Balkans) Doc Film Festival, which was held in Sarajevo from September 9 to 11.
"Essentially, this type of industry serves for people all over the world to hear about the film and, based on that, to come up with potential co-productions - cooperation with television stations, festivals..., as well as to receive valuable comments from all film professionals. And the AJB Doc Film Festival is the right place for that," Ivanović told "Vijesta".
The Beldox award entails an invitation to present the project at the next edition of the prestigious Beldox International Documentary Film Festival in Belgrade in 2023, which also opens the door to future films.
"Beldoks is one of the most important festivals in the region and beyond and has a very serious selection, and therefore competition in all festival segments. With that alone, they showed us the great honor of presenting what 'Rear Admiral' will be," said Ivanovic.
The Montenegrin film project, the feature-length documentary film "Kontraadmiral", directed and scripted by Mladen Ivanović, is produced by the company Artikulacija film and the Croatian company "Restart".
The description states that the film tells the story of Krst Đurović, to the rear admiral who died in the Yugoslav war because he refused to shell Dubrovnik.
The film previously received the support of the Film Center of Montenegro in one of the contests for project development, and later received the support of the Croatian Audiovisual Center in the category for the production of a feature-length documentary film, as well as for the development of projects.
"Kontraadmiral" was also recognized from numerous other addresses as a project with significant potential, and among others, at the DOK Serbia workshop, intended for authors and producers of documentary films, it was awarded with participation in the DOK Industry program within the Documentary and Animated Film Festival in Leipzig.
