In Kotor, on Friday evening, the fourth international film festival "Catch the film" was officially opened, which will be held in several locations in the city from September 22 to 24.
As stated in the announcement of the CGNews Agency, in addition to the screenings of 20 short films on the topic of disability, the audience will be able to watch regional films on this topic as well as one domestic film.
The festival was opened by the secretary of the Secretariat for Culture, Sports and Social Activities of the Municipality of Kotor, Tatjana Kriještorac, who said, as stated in the announcement, that the Municipality supports this project primarily because of the values and goals that it stands for, which go in the direction of promoting equality. human rights and improving the position of persons with disabilities (PWD).
"Film, as a powerful medium, has an undeniably strong influence in conveying messages, both to the individual and to the local and wider community. This is of crucial importance when it comes to improving the quality of life of PWDs, as well as breaking down prejudices and pushing boundaries," said Kriještorac.
Director of the Kotor Tourism Organization, Jovan Ristic, as they said, thanked everyone who took part in the creation and creation of this program.
"The importance of such festivals is exceptional and a big step forward would be to start similar festivals in other areas, with the aim of raising awareness of the problems faced by people with disabilities," said Ristić.
Acting Director of the "Nikola Đurković" Cultural Center, Radmila Beća Radulović, said that the festival raises topics about the prejudices we have and helps us overcome the discomfort of communication and interaction with people with disabilities.
"Also, these kinds of festivals raise topics that indicate the strength and possibilities of PWDs, so the established barriers will be changed at the level of consciousness, if not in the physical sense," stated Radulović.

"I hope that there will be no need for such festivals in the future because we will succeed in reaching that level where all people have equal rights and no one has barriers," Moškov announced.
After the opening ceremony, a panel discussion "Women and disability - Where is the film" was held, moderated by Nataša Nelević, and, as stated, Marina Vujačić, director of UMHCG and Milesa Milinković, director of the Film Festival Uhvati film Novi Sad, spoke, while the Invisible Lives photo exhibition was set up in the hall of Kina Boka.
"The festival is organized by NVU "Art 365" with the support of the Municipality of Kotor, the Kotor Tourism Organization, the Secretariat for Culture, Sports and Social Activities of the Municipality of Kotor, the Cultural Center "Nikola Đurković" Kotor, the Resource Center "Peruta Ivanović" and the Film Center of Montenegro", he adds. in the announcement.
The project, it was announced, is part of the regional network Film Festival "Uhvati film" realized by partner organizations from the region KAO Parnas Novi Sad, Udruga Spirit Rijeka, HO Partner Banja Luka and NVU Art 365 from Podgorica.
