The jubilee 70 years of the Montenegrin National Theater will be celebrated tomorrow, on the Day of the CNP, November 1. At the traditional ceremony that will be held at noon on this occasion, annual awards and recognitions will be presented to members of the collective and collaborators of the National Theater for high artistic results and the best results achieved in all segments of the production.
In addition, the real theatrical experience that will make the jubilee memorable will be held on the same day, at 20 p.m., when the play "The Visit" based on the drama "The Visit of the Old Lady" will be premiered on the big stage, after the protocol part. Friedrich Durenmatt, staged and then restored by an eminent European director Alexander Morfov.
Art director Vesna Vujošević Labović at yesterday's press conference, she proudly said that they managed to organize the restoration of the big show that was originally planned for the 2020 season, but due to the corona virus pandemic and the current measures at the time, it was not brought to the very end.
"I believe that it is a true theatrical event and experience with which we celebrate the jubilee, and now we can already confirm the theme of this theater season, which is 'I live the theatre'. Morfov has so skilfully leaned on the world of Dierenmat, which has been distorted into the grotesque, and in this way tells a story that is out of time with current problems that shake us all. It examines all the virtues and weaknesses of an ordinary man. Also, it establishes the relationship between the group and the individual, and at the very center is the topic of 'money power,'” she said.
Script editor Stefan Boskovic he said that it is important to point out that the restoration, in full, took place thanks to the young Montenegrin director Dušanka Belada, her strength, persistence and intelligence, who was the director's assistant... Bošković also said that for him this was a big and significant experience, and he reflected on the process behind them.
"I always find one main question that comes out of the text and the play we are doing, which is later broken down through the characters and the whole idea we are dealing with. In this case it's a question of buying justice, which is a very disturbing idea... At its core, this play is a serious exploration of the dark side of humanity and the belief that economics determines morality. There are no more guilty, there are no more responsible, and that is the basic line and atmosphere of this piece," he said.
The main roles were entrusted to the champions of the Montenegrin National Theatre, Varja Djukic i Mirko Vlahović, and in addition to them, the roles are also played by: Slobodan Marunović, Aleksandar Radulović, Slavko Kalezić, Nikola Perišić, Jadranka Mamić, Sejfo Seferović, Jelena Nenezić, Julija Milačić Petrović Njegoš, Jovan Dabović, Stevan Radusinović, Sanja Vujisić, Jelena Šestović, Radmila Božović. Acting students of the Faculty of Dramatic Arts from Cetinje also play in the play, in the class of Associate Professor. prof. Dubravka Drakić and that: Matija Memedović, Anđela Marunović, Jovana Brnović, Itana Dragojević, Mina Mićović, Miloš Kašćelan i Milo Perovic.
Đukić stated that this is her first premiere at CNP after six years, and that the play was staged on the initiative of the director at the time Željko Sošić, "in the most difficult conditions, during the corona". She said that even then they "brought the play to the end, only that it was not performed in front of the audience". She also talked about what the audience can expect from "The Visit".
"A story emerges about how money can buy everything. It emerges, but also remains in the shadows, amorality which is a constant. The question is to what extent society is aware of its temptations, duration and longevity, and to what extent it (does not) succumb to those temptations. The question is how much conscience a society has, individually and collectively, to react to all the temptations that appear, which are universal issues", said Đukić and added that she was looking forward to the jubilee of the CNP, in which she has worked since 1985. to be celebrated with this play.
Milačić Petrović Njegoš recalled that she was not in the original set, but that she joined the ensemble during the renovation. From that aspect, she stated that it is a large-scale, demanding and mathematically precise play that stands firm and accurate even after a three-year hiatus. This is proof of the director's skill, she said, as well as her colleagues from the first cast.
"I hope that the audience will come out after the performance and think about the question of whether it is possible to buy everything," added the actress.
Assistant on stage movement, with Nadom Vukcevic, is Slavko Kalezić who also plays in the play.
"I will not talk about this play, because I think it should be seen, experienced and only then discussed. I am grateful to Aleksandar that I got a role in which I could show, from my perspective, some new acting tools and adaptations, which is very important for my acting development", said Kalezić.
In anticipation of CNP Day, he recalled that about 20 years ago he stood in front of the theater building and wondered if he would ever play in it. Today, he emphasized, he is proud of the fact that he is celebrating 15 years of continuous work at the CNP, and the theater itself 70 years of existence, but also that in this play he plays his key scenes with theater champions - Mirko Vlahović and Varja Đukić, because of which and fell in love with the theater.
The rest of the author's team consists of: scenographer and costume designer Nikola Toromonov, singing instructor Nina Perovic, assistant stage designer Ivanka Vana Prelevic, assistant costume designer Lina Lekovic i Gordana Bulatović, proofreader Jelena Sušanj, the director's assistant and collaborator on the adaptation of Dušanko Belad, and the executive producer on the demanding project is an experienced Nela Otašević. The rerun of the play is on November XNUMX.
They play for the audience and colleagues who are no longer among them
Actress Radmila Božović did not talk about the play and her role, but rather referred to those who laid the foundations of the Montenegrin National Theater, developed it and contributed to it. The current acting ensemble, including the repertoire, is just one "artistic notch in a series of years and incredible roles in the creativity of our colleagues who are no longer with us," she said.
"I think it is fair and necessary to mention them even today, because I'm sure we wouldn't be where we are if it weren't for their phenomenal plays that they played with joy in this theater building. First of all, I want to mention Dear Tomas i Peter Thomas. They're here Drago Malović, Boro Begović, Gojko Burzanović, Jagoš Marković, Brano Vuković, Zef Dedivanović and many others, probably watching us from some corner of the sky, from some buffet Slobo Milatović i Ljubo Đurković. I think that their benevolent aura will be with us at the premiere of this play as well. We will, for sure, play this show for you - the audience, as well as for them," she said.
Young actors and actresses brought fresh energy to the play
The champion of CNP, Mirko Vlahović, instead of talking about his role, invited everyone to come and watch the play, and then draw their own conclusions and form opinions. He also said that hard work is behind them, he reminded that Aleksandar Morfov is one of the most important European theater directors today who has a specific approach.
"I want to mention and thank my young colleagues, master's students. Their young, fresh blood was the infusion for the energy of this play," he said.
And on behalf of myself, but also on behalf of colleagues from FDU who are in the setting, Jovana Brnović emphasized that this process was significant for them in many ways.
"In addition to the cooperation with a director like Aleksandar Morfov, I think it was also valuable for all of us that we got the opportunity to play in the national theater after finishing the Academy. What meant the most to us was working with the director, but also getting to know the scene, the space and what we were doing at the academy, as well as the advice of all the more experienced actors, now colleagues, to whom we are grateful for their nice approach to us who are new to this business." she said.
