Vibrant works that burst with energy and bring a different experience to seemingly common and incidental, but busy places, were presented at the exhibition "Destinations in Motion" by the Italian artist Andrea Sbra Perego. The exhibition was opened on Wednesday evening in Podgorica, in the Modern Gallery, where it will be available to visitors until December 13.
The presentation of the artist is organized by the Embassy of Italy in Montenegro in cooperation with the Museums and Galleries of Podgorica, so the exhibition was officially opened by the Ambassador of Italy in Montenegro, Andreina Marcela. She said that a lot of effort and effort was put into the realization of this event, pointing out that Sbra Perego is a true representative of a versatile artist, not only because of the way he realizes his works, but primarily because he manages to convey life and emotions through his works.
"Through urban landscapes, Andrea Sbra Perego shows us the universe of people depicted at stations, airports, in the subway, therefore in motion. And, not by chance, the artist shows these people painted on geographical, toponymic, road maps and maps. In this way, using a special mixed technique, such as collage, oil paint and spray paint, Andrea Sbra Perego 'immerses' us in new and magical places, although well known to us, precisely because they were transformed by his art. His paintings manage to skillfully combine the dynamics of movement; melancholy and enthusiasm, typical feelings of those returning from a trip or those about to embark on a new one; the role of a man who is always the protagonist because he revives these contexts with his presence", wrote the ambassador.
In her address, she called him an artist-traveler who moves beyond space and time, and in his works, Marsela assesses, the observer is easily lost in the details of faces, constructions, buildings, in the eruption of colors and life. Marsela expressed her gratitude to those present, but also to the organizers, collaborators and the artist himself.
Sbra Perego also said that he is grateful for the invitation and organization of the exhibition. He explained that the works were created between 2019 and 2023.
"All of them were made using the combined technique of oil on canvas and collage. What I want to say with my works is not to convey specific places, but the feeling that occurs in certain places such as stations, airports and the like", he said, after which he spoke to the interested audience.
Petrica Duletić, art historian and curator of the Modern Gallery, also spoke about his work, and the recent director of the Podgorica University of Museums and Galleries Vučić Ćetković wrote in the catalog that accompanies the exhibition that through Pereg's work we recognize the unlimited possibilities and broad scope of contemporary painting.
