The award for the best actor at the 28th International Festival of Small Scenes and Monodramas in East Novi Sarajevo went to Nikšić Theater actor Stevan Vuković for the role of Jevrem Prokić in the play "People's Representative".
The decision was made unanimously last night by the Festival's jury: actress Lidija Vukićević, director Vitomir Mitrić and theater expert Zoran Todorović.
The play, which premiered on the stage of the Nikšić Theater on September 30, was directed by Goran Bulajić based on the text by Branislav Nušić, and was co-produced by the Nikšić Theater and the Pljevlja Cultural Center.
This is the second award for the actor Stevan Vuković for his role in the People's Deputy, and he received the award for acting performance of the evening at the 40th Festival "Nušićevi dani", which was held in Smederevo in the middle of May this year.
"People's Representative" opened this year's edition of the Festival in East New Sarajevo, for which prizes, in addition to the ensemble of the play "People's Representative", were competed for by actors from four other plays and six monodramas from Serbia, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Vuković said that it is significant when the jury, which is from the profession, singles you out as someone who brought his vision of the character more impressively than others. As he pointed out, the award and his playing is a way to thank director Goran Bulajić, who recently passed away, for his cooperation, support, and companionship.
"With this performance, the Nikšić theater has, in a way, opened its doors in the region. Although it is an individual award, not a group award, for the best performance, this is still a confirmation that we are doing well and that our work is appreciated and valued," he said. is Vuković.
As he said, he is proud of himself, but also of all his colleagues, because, as he pointed out, acting is a team sport in which an individual cannot achieve a good result alone.
"I'm proud of the award and because of the years, (in)experience, challenges. I'm glad that everything we designed for the 'People's Deputy' now makes sense and we play with ease. After the passage of time, it got its full potential," he said. Vuković.
The director of the Nikšić Theater, Radinko Krulanović, said that the award is significant both for Vuković and for the theater, because it is a great incentive for everyone.
"The play lives and that is the most important thing. Through the awards, it gains importance and value. We would like the play to last as long as the Nikšić Theater lasts and to achieve an absolute record in performance. That is the goal and meaning of any play, any play and theater. Awards they come as confirmation of work, but they should not be the goal," said Krulanović.
