"The Godfathers" by Dušan Kovačević for the jubilee of the Nikšić Theater

On the occasion of the celebration of the 140th anniversary of the first theater play in Nikšić, the Nikšić Theater is preparing a new play "The Godfathers", according to the text Dusan Kovačević, and in directing Bozidar Đurović. They play in the play Hadži Nenad Maričić, Žana Gardašević Bulatović, Ivona Čović Jaćimović, Nikola Vasiljević i Pavle Bogojević.

"The Nikšić theater, in accordance with its long tradition, represents and affirms domestic writers and is thematically reflected on the horizon of the domestic audience's expectations even in our time. That's why we opted for Dušan Kovačević's text "The Godfathers", which is being staged for the first time in Montenegro. The thematic foundation of this drama is found in the everyday life of a modern man in our Balkan area, where human life is tempted to intertwine with what our people call 'dog life'. That life, through the institutional marginalization of its bearers, at first appears to be a chance for liberation from the shackles of civilized distress and delusion called modernity. But in Kovačević's poetics, as well as in the universal dramatic art, one delusion always gives birth to another delusion, and human life itself and the love in it are the only things worth sacrificing and fighting for, even through the barking of a dog and the existence of a stray dog," he wrote. is the artistic director of the Nikšić Theater, Janko Jelić.

Dušan Kovačević's text has been in the repertoire of Belgrade's "Zvezdar Teatr" for more than a decade, and the author defined it as a "comedy of everyday tragedy".

At the end of 2021, Kovačević's film "It's not bad to be a man" was premiered, which is based on the hit play "The Godfathers".
