The play "Jelena of Savoy", according to the text Maria Sarap, in directing Zoran Rakočević and the performance of the actress Jelena Djukic, will open the ninth International Festival of Chamber Drama - MAKADO in February.
It is a co-production project of the Cultural and Information Center "Budo Tomović" from Podgorica, which is also the organizer of Makada, the Cultural Center "Nikola Đurković" from Kotor and the Korifej Theater from Kolašin. Preparations for the play are underway, and in addition to Sarap, Rakočević and Đukić, who is entrusted with the role, the team is completed by Bojan Peko Minic as musical support.
"This piece is a poetic reflection of one of the most significant historical figures of this area. Today, her shadow is present in many socio-political discourses, from the progressive integrative experience of Jelena Savoy as the geographical and cultural link of this karst with the white world, to the epic one in which she appears as a fairy from the mountains who outplayed a foreign dynasty with her stature and voice. ", says director Rakočević.
"Jelena was a woman of flesh and blood, essentially a rebel for a better world, better people and a better society. A woman from the court who cared for the living and the half-living, and dug up the dead," wrote Rakočević.
