The second half of February in Nikšić will be a sign of theatrical magic, which in the city under Trebjes, despite the years of war and "unfortunate cuts" of the state and the city in the past, has lasted for 140 years - since February 16, 1884, when the play "Slobodarka" was performed. , by Manojlo Đorđević Prizrenac, a tragedy in five acts. As the Director of the Theatre, Radinko Krulanović, said at the press conference, it is an honor to be part of the team that will mark such a significant date not only for the theater life of Nikšić, but also for Montenegro.
"The Nikšić Theater has something to be proud of this year - in addition to 140 years of theatrical life, there are also 20 years of the International Actor's Festival. I hope that we will adequately respond to these jubilees," Krulanović said.
Judging by the program, which was presented by the artistic director of the Theater Janko Jelić, the prepared content will correspond to the significance of the jubilee. The program begins on February 14, when a formal academy will be organized, as well as an exhibition of written material and photographs from the history of theater life in Nikšić. Tomorrow should be the evening of Dušan Kovačević, whose play "The Godfathers", directed by Božidar Đurović, produced by the Nikšić Theater, will be performed on Theater Day, February 16, as well as the 17th. It will be the first performance of the mentioned play in Crna Gori, and the roles were entrusted to Hadža Nenad Maričić, Žana Gardašević Bulatović, Ivona Čović Jaćimović, Nikola Vasiljević and Pavlo Bogojević.
From February 20 to 22 is "Beoart - a performance review", and the audience will have the opportunity to enjoy the plays "Together", "Breaking news" and "Once upon a time in Brijuni".
The Nikšić theater, along with the Zetski dom, is the oldest theater in Montenegro, whose "boards that mean life", despite wartime and peacetime destruction, shutdowns and re-establishments, still tell the story of duration, of ups and downs, of culture and span between three centuries.
In 1956, the Children's Theater was founded in Nikšić, the first of its kind in Montenegro after the Second World War, so even during the celebration of 140 years of theater in Nikšić, the youngest audience was not forgotten - on February 24, the play "Tarzan - Lord of the Jingle" will be performed, and a day later, the animated film "Masha and the Bear - even more fun" will be shown. On February 26, lovers of the seventh art will have the opportunity to watch the dark comedy "The Good Boss" by Fernando Leon de Arano, a film from 2021 that a year later, in February, was the main winner of the 36th "Goya" awards ceremony of the Spanish Academy of Arts, held in Valencia.
"The end of February, February 28 and 29 are reserved for the memory of a man who made a great contribution to theater life in Nikšić, and who passed away last year. It is about Goran Bulajić and in his honor we are making a short documentary film, in our production. His much-loved film, 'The fork is held in the left hand', will also be screened, as well as the last play he did for our theater, 'The Deputy', which has already won the audience in Montenegro and the region," he said. As he pointed out, they are aware of the fact that it is a big jubilee and they believe that they will do everything they set out to do.
"During February, we will bear witness to the rich history of the theater in Nikšić, and the program will be our pledge that someone in the future will remember us and this jubilee," said the artistic director of the Nikšić Theater.
Ceremonial Academy – from romanticism to contemporary theatrical expression
Radisav Jevrić, who is in charge of the ceremonial academy, pointed out that they made an effort to make it not only a protocol part, but also a theatrical story made up of segments from four theater plays that marked the life of the Nikšić theater in different periods. These are the indispensable "Slobodarka", from which it all started, and which will be presented as a multimedia story where the character of Stojana will be interpreted by the actress Maja Stojanović. A part of the play "Waiting for Godot" performed at the end of the 1970s will be shown, which will be brought to the stage by Dobrilo Boban Čvorović and Mihailo Perošević, an excerpt from the "Museum of the Bicycle Uprising" which will be performed by Nebojša Ćićo Vulanović and Velizar Kasalica, as well as a monologue. from the play "Lungs" interpreted by Stevan Vuković.
According to Jevrić, it will be a segmental part that will range from romanticism to contemporary theater, but also a kind of tribute to the directors and writers who made a significant contribution to the theater life of Nikšić - Goran Bulajić, Slobodan Milatović and Zoran Kopitović.
The quartet of the Symphony Orchestra from Podgorica will also participate in the program of the festive academy.
