Nikšić: The play "The Godfathers" for World Theater Day

The Nikšić Theater will mark World Theater Day with a performance of the play "The Godfathers", directed by Božidar Đurović based on the text of Dušan Kovačević. The performance will be performed on Thursday, March 28, starting at 20 p.m.

The play stars Žana Gardašević Bulatović, Hadži Nenad Maričić, Ivona Čović Jaćimović, Nikola Vasiljević and Pavle Bogojević. Set design is by Vesna Popović, costumes by Marina Medenica and Margareta Šobot, stage movement by Jelena Simić, music selection by Bojan Bojanić, and songs by Pavle Bogojević. The author of the photos is Krsto Vulović, and the poster was designed by Sandra Gardašević.

"The thematic foundation of this drama is found in the everyday life of a modern man in our Balkan region, where human life is tempted to intertwine with what our people call 'dog life'. That life, through the institutional marginalization of its bearers, at first appears to be a chance for liberation from the shackles of civilized distress and delusion called modernity. But in Kovačević's poetics, as well as in the universal dramatic art, one delusion always gives birth to another delusion, and human life itself and the love in it are the only things worth sacrificing and fighting for, even through the barking of a dog and the existence of a stray dog," he wrote. is the artistic director of the Nikšić Theater, Janko Jelić.

According to him, it is about people who turn into dogs in spirit and body, stray dogs at that, because renouncing the systemically projected personality is the only way to preserve true personality and true humanity.

"The play is conceived in such a way that the tragic and the comic cannot be separated or understood without each other, and the viewer is left crying with one eye and laughing with the other, realizing that he is the essential hero of the story," said Jelić.

The play "The Godfathers" was created on the occasion of the 140th anniversary of the first theater play in Nikšić and premiered on February 16 this year, on Nikšić Theater Day.

Tickets can be purchased at the ticket office of the Nikšić Theater for seven euros, with a 50 percent discount for high school students, students, pensioners and people with disabilities.
