Tonight in Šavnik, at the Culture Center, starting at 20 p.m., the monodrama "The Last Hour of Njegoševa" will be performed, which will mark 36 years since the premiere of the aforementioned iconic stage work, when on May 19, 1988, the Montenegrin National Theater was the first time played.
The monodrama, written by Slobodan Tomović and directed by Blagota Eraković, is performed by the actor Slobodan Marunović. In three and a half decades of post-production life, this monodrama recorded nearly 1600 performances on all continents of the planet, except Africa (Paris, London, Vienna, Rome, Stockholm, Zurich, Vienna, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Karlsruhe, Moscow, Brussels, Luxembourg, Belgrade , Ljubljana, Zagreb, Sarajevo, Skopje, Novi Sad, Pristina, Olimp, Kastroma, Montreal, Toronto, New York, Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, New Jersey, Brooklyn...).
"Her arrival from the stage from Brooklyn to Šavnik, where the jubilee is being celebrated, also has a metaphysical - theatrical sub-context, because the 38th theater season since the premiere of this work coincides with the years of the life of the poet and bishop Petar II Petrović Njegoš," reads the announcement of the monodrama.
According to the director, Blagota Eraković, it is a timeless, ingenious text by Slobodan Tomović, a great philosopher, writer, dramatist, which can be discussed from various angles, applying many artistic and scientific disciplines. As Eraković pointed out, Tomović wrote the drama "as if he were alone among everyone", because he saw and experienced the "Latter Hour" from the man whose work he dedicated a large part of his life to.
"When a writer, director and actor work with cover and deep faith, then this must also be part of the viewer's perception, Eraković was convinced even at the beginning of the work, when he chose an actor who would stand behind everything with dedication and courage - 'front and chest' , with faith in what he interprets and says," the announcement stated.
Prof. Sonja Tomović Šundić, Ph.D., sees the monodrama "Potonja ura Njegoševa" not only as a linguistic and thought-layered dramatic work dedicated to Petar II Petrović Njegoš, but also as a synthesis of various aspects of the historical and cultural, philosophical and metaphysical plan... The multi-decade performance of this work on stages in Montenegro In Gori, but also around the world, according to her, it testifies to the aesthetic values of the text, but also to the extraordinary gift of Slobodan Marunović, who brings the character of the poet and ruler of Montenegro to life with his acting skills.
"The synergy between Slobodan Tomović's well-thought-out dramatic text, Slobodan Marunović's inventive acting interpretation and Blagota Eraković's directorial solutions is a kind of proof that great achievements can only be created in this way," said Dr. Tomović Šundić.
Academician Sreten Perović wrote that with decades of performance of Slobodan Tomović's inspiring monodramatic poem, actor Slobodan Marunović represented the contemporary culture, libertarian nature and rich spiritual treasure of Montenegro in an intimate and effective way.
"This stage work testifies to the extraordinary psychological, interpretive condition and creative efforts of the actor Marunović, who realized the character of Njegoš in a purely artisanal, psychologically well-groomed, tonal and visual manner in accordance with the dignity of Njegoš's historical role," wrote Perović.
