Montenegrin film project, documentary film "Kontraadmiral", scripted and directed Mladen Ivanovic, was selected for participation in the BDC Discoveries 2024 program, and thus is part of the Pitching Forum of the Beldocs International Documentary Film Festival in Belgrade.
The Balkan Documentary Center (BDC) program is focused on documentary projects in development with international potential, and operates with the support of the "MEDIA" sub-program of Creative Europe. The selectors of BDC Discoveries 2024 emphasized that the "Kontraadmiral" project has strong potential.
The workshops will be held in three modules, in Belgrade during the Beldocs Industry program, then in Sofia from September 30 to October 6 at the Sofia Documentary Festival and in Leipzig.
The project "Kontraadmiral" by Mladen Ivanović is produced by the company "Artikulacija film" from Montenegro and the Croatian company "Restart". The plot focuses on the story of the rear admiral Krsto Đurović who died in the Yugoslav war because he refused to shell Dubrovnik.
"The unsolved murder of Krsto Đurović, a Montenegrin rear admiral of the Yugoslav People's Army, who refused to attack Dubrovnik in the 1991 war, exposes the story of elusive justice in the Balkans in the 21st century, and exposes how society treats moral decisions when honor trumps heroism." it is stated in the description published on the official website of Beldocs.
The film was previously supported by the Film Center of Montenegro, and later by the Croatian Audiovisual Center in the category for the production of feature-length documentary films, as well as for the development of projects. "Kontraadmiral" has been recognized at numerous other addresses as a project with significant potential, and it is expected to be realized by 2025.
