The play "Jelena of Savoy" will be performed in Istria

The play "Jelena of Savoy", produced by KIC Budo Tomović, the Nikola Đuroković Cultural Center and the Korifej Theater in Kolašin, will be performed in Fažana (Istria) at the event "Character and Work of Montenegrin Princess Jelena Petrović, Queen of Italy Elena di Savoy".

The event is organized by the Association of Montenegrins of Croatia and the Community of Montenegrins of Istria County. The play was directed by Zoran Rakočević, based on the text by Marija Sarap, and the play features Jeleni Đukić and Bojan Peko Minić. The stage design and costumes are by Ivanka Vana Prelevic, and the music is by Minic.

"This piece is a poetic reflection of one of the most significant historical figures of this area. Her shadow is present today in many social and political discourses, from the progressive integrative experience of Jelena Savoy as the geographical and cultural link of this karst with the white world, to the epic one in which she appears like a mountain fairy who outplayed a foreign dynasty with her stature and voice. Jelena was a woman of flesh and blood, essentially a rebel for a better world, better people and a better society. said Rakočević about the piece.

The monodrama "Jelena of Savoy", although a duet on stage, as written by Jelena Kontić, shows a completely new theatrical approach by the director Rakočević, proves the strength and potential of the actress Đukić, reveals the musical and theatrical abilities of Minic, promises the interest of the festival audience and undoubtedly acts as a play that can and it needs to be played for a long time, during which it will only build on itself and gain fullness.

At the Makado 2024 Festival, Jelena Đukić won the award for best actress for her role as Jelena of Savoy.
