The first Montenegro Film Rendezvous will be held from August 24 to 27 in Herceg Novi, as part of the 37th Herceg Novi Film Festival, organized by the Film Center of Montenegro.
"The carefully designed three-day program includes presentations of Montenegrin film projects in various stages of development, Q&A sessions, workshops with distinguished experts from the industry and discussions with representatives of film funds to explore new opportunities for international co-productions," the Film Center announced.
Montenegrin authors will, through two sessions planned for August 25 and 26, present a total of 21 projects in various stages of development, from the script to post-production. Participants will have the opportunity to present their projects to representatives of key European film funds, including Eurimazh, the French National Center for Cinematography and Moving Images (CNC), the Austrian Film Fund, as well as representatives of the Turkish national television TRT.
The Film Center says that this opportunity allows authors to establish connections with important institutions, open doors for co-productions and secure additional financial support.
"Other segments of the event include a master class led by the celebrated director Goran Marković, a panel discussion with representatives of European film funds, as well as a special discussion with a representative of a European fund Eurymage. Participants will also have the opportunity to attend talks on film sales, production and film festivals. The presence of representatives of prestigious film festivals such as Berlinale, Rotterdam and Black Nights from Tallinn enables Montenegrin authors to present their projects to the key actors of the European film scene," it added.
They said that the Montenegro Film Rendezvous was designed to build a lasting connection between the Montenegrin, regional and European film industry. "Actively including Montenegro in the European audiovisual space, this initiative aims to raise the standards of the local film industry and increase the recognition of Montenegrin authors and professionals among European film experts".
They also say that the participation of renowned film professionals from all over Europe will provide Montenegrin authors with valuable opportunities for career development, enabling them to network with European film institutions and experts, as well as the improvement of their projects through all stages of development, production and distribution.
"This event is an initiative of the Film Center of Montenegro, and it is realized in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Media, the Municipality of Herceg Novi and JUK Herceg Fest, which is also the producer of the Film Festival Herceg Novi - Montenegro Film Festival," the announcement concludes.
