The Nikšić Theater will "honor" the city and its fellow citizens, as befits that house, on the Municipal Day, September 18, with the premiere of the play "Heroj ulice". Reading rehearsals have begun, and at the press conference, the director Milan Neskovic and members of the play's ensemble expressed their satisfaction that the audience will have the opportunity to watch a play based on the playwright's text Ivan M. Lalić, while the artistic director of the theater Janko Jelić, reflected on the jubilee year.
The play "Hero of the Nation" deals with the influence of the media (television) on the lives of individuals and families, on the fact that the media, despite its efforts to be "more realistic than reality", often leads to the degradation of families, and that the version of life that is "served in the media ”, especially in reality shows, does not correspond to reality,
Director Nešković did not hide his satisfaction that for the first time in his career he is working on a play in which actors he has already collaborated with play. It is this fact that makes work even easier and gives them pleasure, as well as the fact that the employees of the Nikšić Theater "make every day an atmosphere for them".
He pointed out that the play deals with people, not a phenomenon, and that the focus is on how external factors, in this case the media, that is, television, affect an ordinary family of four. Although today we are all "poisoned by the media" and depend on them, the play draws attention to the fact that we must not allow them to influence social and, above all, family relationships.
The Životić family, the actors of "Heroja nacije", who were guided by that well-known and so disastrous sentence: It doesn't matter what the truth is, but what is in the media, was the best convinced of this.
Actor Vladan Gajović said that he is happy that he will play for the first time in a performance by the Nikšić Theater, especially considering the fact that Nikšić is his hometown. Since he is going to retire next year, he hopes that the play "Hero of the Nation" will be the first in a series in which he will perform at the Nikšić Theater.
Biljana Keskenović had the opportunity to dance on the boards of the Nikšić theater, but in the performances of her home theater from Sombor. Now she was given the opportunity to play for the first time in a play supported by the Nikšić Theater.
"I follow the work of this theater and I am glad that they have been visiting the region a lot in the last few years because it is a very good opportunity for the theater to open. Here, after a long time, I felt that the play was important and that it was in the first place, which is rare nowadays. Everyone in this theater has an exceptional attitude towards the actors and restores my hope that there are people who think like that and for whom the play is still important", said Keskenović.
Ljubomir Bandović last year in December, as president of the jury for the "Veljko Mandić" award, which is awarded biennially as part of the Nikšić International Actor's Festival, he had the opportunity to present the award to Gajović. Now the two will share the stage together - this time in a play.
"As a freelance artist, my mission has been going on for eight years - to play in many theaters and that all theaters are mine. I feel at home in Nikšić, and the Nikšić Theater has become one of my theaters. I think that we are going to make a significant show that will be humorous and that will attract the audience and animate them with its content, because the best advertisement for the theater is aber - when the word goes out that something is good. Nothing can 'give birth' or 'kill' a play as well as an audience that has already sat in the hall. We have good content in front of us on paper, I guess we are experienced enough, and I guess smart enough, to know that it is not about us, but about the play itself, I hope to everyone's satisfaction", said Bandović.
In addition to three guest actors, Maja Stojanović i Stevan Vuković "Branes of Colors" by the Nikšić Theater Ensemble. Stojanović pointed out that it was a pleasure for her to collaborate with one of the most imaginative young directors, and that after the first rehearsal she went home very happy and realized how "the flow of information is important and how much it shapes us all, especially in the 21st century".
"We do not lack the experience, and I hope neither the knowledge nor the skills, to make a show that the audience will look forward to. I am full of enthusiasm to enter this season in the right way. Energetically, we match nicely. The characters themselves offer a handful of material and space that we have to conquer, and we are all looking forward to that space and that game together," said Vuković.
She is in charge of the scenography of the play Vesna Sušić, costumes Margareta Shobot, production Milica Burić, while the organizer Belizar Kasalica.

Artistic director Janko Jelić said that it is a great happiness, but also an honor and pride, to be a part of the Nikšić theater in the year when it marks 14 decades since the first performance in Nikšić and 20 years of the International Actor's Festival.
"Feel that in this area, where much more was 'torn' and demolished, this is a serious tradition and something that is a hindrance to all of us, both individually and collectively," said Jelić.
He emphasized that he was glad that the Nikšić theater became recognized in the region and earned the attention of people from "big theater centers and important stages, serious director and actor names", it became interesting for cooperation, but also a challenge.
