The cult play "Potonja ura Njegoševa", which according to the text Slobodan Tomović directed Blagota Erakovic, and in what role Petar II Petrović Njegoš interpreted by the champion of the Montenegrin National Theater Slobodan Marunović, was performed on Monday evening in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, opening the ninth edition of the International Festival of Small Theater Forms "Impulse".
"The play shows the last moments of the life of the poet, philosopher, bishop and lord of Montenegro through his dramatic confrontation with death and his philosophical questioning about death, fate, God, love and the meaning of his existence," the description states.
An excellent connoisseur of the life and works of Bishop Petar II Petrović Njegoš, prof. Slobodan Tomović, PhD, weaved the text into this work in an ingenious and authentic way and thus immortalized the essence of Njegoš's thought to which we should return even today, CNP adds.
"On the other hand, just as masterfully, the director Blagota Eraković created a great directorial solution that, even after three and a half decades, does not fade and does not stop delighting domestic and international theater audiences," the theater announced.
After the performance of the monodrama, a large audience greeted the actor with long and thunderous applause, who has performed this work more than 19 times around the world since its premiere on May 1988, 1.600 at the CNP. For this play, Marunović received some of the most prestigious awards at domestic, European and international festivals.
