Exhibition of drawings and sculptures "Defeated Winner" Zlatka Glamočak, a renowned sculptor who lives and works in Paris, will be opened in the Belgrade gallery "Chaos" on October 15 at 20 p.m.
The exhibition will be opened by the French ambassador Pierre Kosar, and the foreword of the catalog was written by an academician Dimitrije Popović, prominent painter and writer.
"After almost three decades of absence from the Belgrade art scene, Glamocak will exhibit 'spectacular scenes of hellish scenes of suffering and punishment' from the cycle of drawings called 'The Defeated Victor,'" states Popović in the introductory text.
Emphasizing the sculptor's treatment of drawing as an autonomous discipline, Popović points out that Glamočak's "drawings", with a kind of drawing technique and characteristic iconographic elements in compositional articulation, led to the fact that "what is more terrible than death itself is the process of dying that takes place in the cruel martyrdom of silent screams, in the pains of deformed human or animal bodies," he noted.
"In Glamočak's pessimistic concept of existence, man stands as the undisputed creator of his own history in which he asserts himself as an absurd defeated victor," stated Popović.
