He is the winner of the "Ćamil Sijarić" regional literary award Svetislav Basara, author of the book "Recapitulation", announced the president of the jury Kemal Music, at yesterday's press conference in Bijelo Polje.
This year, the "Vojislav Bulatović Strunjo" cultural center in Bijelo Polje established the "Ćamil Sijarić" regional literary award for the best prose work in Montenegro, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia.
The selection included 17 prose books proposed by selectors and jury members from Montenegro and three neighboring countries, and the decision for Svetislav Basara's book was unanimous, said Music.
In the innermost circle were the books: "War" Miljenko Jergović, "Cut down the tall trees" Nikola Nikolić i "Anadolovo pismo" Zlatko Topčić.
In addition to Musić, there were members of the jury Draško Došljak from Montenegro, Petar V. Arbutina from Serbia, Diana Hadžižukić from BiH and Sinan Gudžević from Croatia.
"I believe that the award to Svetislav Basara has raised the bar high and that this award, considering that this is the first year of awarding, will achieve its affirmation as the literary work of Ćamilo Sijarić deserves and that December 18, the date of birth of Ćamilo Sijarić and the date of awarding the award, to be the date of the gathering of the best regional writers and a great holiday of literature and culture", said Music.
Before the jury, as writer and literary critic, member of the jury and selector for books from Serbia Petar Arbutina said, it was not an easy task because the award brought together the best writers, which obliged the members of the jury to choose a book that, in a way, to affirm all that characterized Ćamil's work as a high level of linguistic achievement, and yet his work does not profile decisions in the thematic and motivational sense.
"Ćamil SIjarić is a universal writer who raised the paradigm of his homeland to a literary, universal, semantic level. We tried to make them linguistically and stylistically accomplished and somewhat perfect books. Svetislav Basara's book imposed itself as a more compact book, something that to a certain extent showed a critical awareness that no longer exists on that metaphorical level", said Arbutina, adding that the cracks in our social reality can best be seen in that book.
Director of the Center for Culture Edin Smailović said that the award, in addition to its undoubted literary significance, is also an important point of connection between literary creators of the region, but also countries and peoples.
"The award will be presented on December 18, and in addition to the ceremony, there will also be a promotion of the awarded book and a promotion of the Proceedings on the literary work of Ćamilo Sijarić, which he prepared Faruk Dizdarević", said Smailović.
Ćamil Sijarić was born in Šipovice near Bijelo Polje in 1913. He graduated from the Gymnasium in Vranje, and the Faculty of Law in Belgrade. Among his most significant works are the novels "Bihorci", "Konak", "A house is made of swallows", "Battle of Mojkovac", books of short stories "Ram Bulja", "Bunar", "When a girl sleeps, it's like they smell like apples", and the poetry books "Lyrics" and "Hut in the Sky".
Ćamil Sijarić is the winner of the most important literary awards in the former Yugoslavia, and his works have been translated into about twenty world languages. He was a member of the Montenegrin and Bosnia-Herzegovina Academy of Sciences and Arts.
