The former President of Montenegro, Milo Đukanović, sent a telegram of condolences on the occasion of the death of Voj Staniċ to his family, Đukanović's office announced.
"Dear Stanić family, I am deeply saddened by the news of the death of your esteemed Voj Stanić, one of the greatest in the famous constellation of Montenegrin painters, a giant of the European and world art scene and a distinguished academician of CANU," Đukanović said in a telegram.
He said that Stanić permanently enriched the Montenegrin cultural treasury with his authentic artistic style and great works of art, and with that, as well as with his attitude to life and the strength of his personality, he elevated Montenegro, made Herceg Novi recognizable by him, and ennobled the age in which lived.
"During his long, honorable life, he made a personal contribution to the liberation and independence of Montenegro - both as a young partisan in the Sixth Montenegrin and as a mature creator in the period of restoration of statehood. I will remember him for his special spirit, life wisdom and human virtues with which he captivated people, and as a sincere friend and comrade in the turning points of modern Montenegrin history," said Đukanović.
"I bow to his shadows. Please accept my sincere condolences," he concluded.
