One of the most important music events in the region is celebrating a special anniversary this year. The Nikšić Guitar Festival, known for promoting classical guitar and music education, is celebrating its twenty-year anniversary, and the anniversary edition will be held from September 21 to October 19, 2025.
The festival, which was launched in 2005 by the Anagastum Guitar Society, together with the founders Daniel Cerović i Goran Perišić, has grown into an international platform over the years. At this event, in addition to performances by world-renowned artists, young talents have the opportunity to assert themselves through performances, workshops and competitions. The key segment of the festival remains the International Classical Guitar Competition, which brings together young guitarists from different countries and represents a springboard for many talented artists.
A special program segment, Festival PLUS, broadens musical horizons by combining classical guitar with contemporary musical trends, multimedia projects and interdisciplinary concepts. This concept also gave rise to the Balkan Soul Festival, which further enriches the cultural scene of Nikšić by connecting traditional Balkan music with modern genres.
The festival organizers rely on the strong support of local institutions, including the Municipality of Nikšić, the Nikšić Theater, the Nikšić Cultural Center, as well as numerous music centers and schools. Of particular note is the cooperation with the Nikšić Tourist Organization and the Onogošt Hotel, which contribute to the promotion of the festival and the hospitality of the participants. Media partners, RTV Nikšić and RTCG, ensure wide visibility of the event through long-term cooperation.
Additional features of the festival include collaboration with world-class guitar builders, who present top-notch instruments and innovations in guitar making through exhibitions and workshops. The international dimension of the event is also confirmed through integration into the EuroStrings platform, as well as through the Guitar Expo project, which further strengthens the network of collaboration with similar events across Europe.
In addition to the Nikšić Guitar Festival, the organizers have also launched the International Guitar Competition in Tivat, further affirming Montenegro's position on the international classical guitar map. The jubilee edition of this festival promises a spectacular program with concerts, masterclasses, lectures and special retrospective programs.
