Students from the School for Primary and Secondary Music Education "Vida Matjan" in Kotor, in collaboration with students from the Academy of Music of the University of Montenegro, will perform the children's musical fairy tale "A Restless Forest Night", tomorrow at the Kotor Cultural Center "Nikola Đurković", at 19.30:XNUMX p.m.

"A Sleepless Night in the Forest" is a musical fairy tale, a stage vocal-instrumental work. According to many experts, it is the most successful work Miloš Milošević, the author of the text, and Vide Matjan, which is responsible for the music, choreography and direction. The work was created in 1963, and in 1965 the authors received the Thirteenth of July Award, the highest state award in Montenegro.

Seeking new ways to develop children's imagination and psyche, as well as their musical abilities, Vida Matjan created small musical and theatrical pieces, musical fairy tales, which combine playing, singing, acting and dancing. These works are unique in that children are not only listeners - the audience, but also performers.

Apart from a few performances during the 70s, conducted by Vida Matjan, and a performance of a fragment of this fairy tale on the occasion of the celebration of the XNUMXth anniversary of the founding of the music school in Kotor, the fairy tale has never been performed in its entirety since then. The reason for this lies mainly in the fact that the score of this work was in manuscript, stored in the Historical Archives in Kotor, which significantly hindered its accessibility, reading and performance. However, after a long period of scientific research, a computer notation of the entire work was made, the manuscript was shaped in such a way that it allows the performance of the work, and dr Vedrana Marković i mr Andrea Ćoso prepared the score for publication.

The official promotion of the publication will be held tonight, on the eve of the premiere, in Kotor at the Church of the Holy Spirit, at 19 p.m. The publisher will speak at the promotion. Mihajlo Lazarevic, M.Sc., director of the School for Primary and Secondary Music Education "Vida Matjan", editors of the publication Dr. Vedrana Marković and MA Andrea Ćoso, and illustrator Svetlana Lola Milickovic, MScThe moderator will be Prof. Dr. Jelena Martinovic-Bogojevic.

After the performance in Kotor, all other performances are planned: on March 10th at the Music Center of Montenegro in Podgorica, and on March 11th at the Royal Theater Zetski Dom in Cetinje.

The performance is being realized within the project "Performing the musical fairy tale A Woke Forest Night by Vida Matjan"", which was supported by the Ministry of Culture and Media within the competition for co-financing of cultural and artistic creativity in 2024.
