The eleventh concert within the cycle "Female Composers from the Shadow" will be held tomorrow, in the large hall of the KIC "Budo Tomović", at 20 pm.

The cycle "Composers from the Shadow" is dedicated to the musical creativity of women and their contribution to music despite centuries of neglect.

The concert repertoire of the eleventh edition of this year's March cycle includes works by Sanje Drakulic (“Drive”, for solo piano), Nadja Bulanze (“Three Pieces”, for cello and piano), Rebecca Clark (“Prelude, Allegro, Pastorale”, for viola and clarinet), Karolin Show (“Entr'acte”, for string quartet) and Aleksandre Vrebalov (“Pannonia Boundless”, for string quartet). At the same time, compositions by Caroline Shaw and Alexandra Vrebalov will be premiered in Montenegro.

Experienced artists, pianists, and musicians have been hired to perform this special program. Amir Dzakovic, cellist Dmitri Prokofiev, clarinetist Damjan Begović, violist Mirjana Jovanovic, as well as young violinists Luka Perazic i Victor Hutter and violist Gleb Bednjakov.

The cycle "Female Composers from the Shadow" was created within the framework of the KIC music program "Budo Tomović" in 2015, at the initiative of Maje Popović, editor of the music program. This cycle brings together mainly domestic instrumentalists, soloists and chamber musicians in various ensembles and contributes to the hearing on our music scene of works of unique value created by female composers in the shadow of powerful mentors, family and social norms of the eras in which they lived. The cycle also features contemporary female authors who have a better status during their lifetime than their predecessors. So far, 46 works by female composers from the Balkans, Europe, America and Asia have been performed, most of which premiered in Montenegro.

The "Female Composers from the Shadow" cycle is a unique program in our country that offers the audience the opportunity to learn about the work of female composers and the rich musical heritage they have left to the history of music.

Admission is free.
