The most precious form of expression of humanity

On the occasion of World Poetry Day, several cultural institutions in Montenegro have announced a special program, in honor of one of the most precious forms of cultural and linguistic expression of humanity, as stated in the UNESCO report when defining this special day.

The Cultural and Information Center (KIC) "Budo Tomović" and the American Corner are organizing a program in Podgorica called "World Poetry Day - The Sound of American Poetry", which will be held tonight in the premises of the American Corner at the KIC, at 20 p.m.

"Poems by Poets of the American Literary Canon, Selected" Marko Stanojkovski, actresses will speak Dusanka Rabrenovic i Milica Scepanovic, as well as philologists Nikoleta Radević i Marko Stanojkovski, it is stated in the announcement.

The program is designed in a bilingual format, and the participants will bring creativity and poetry closer to the audience: Henry David Thoreau, Walt Whitman, Emily Dickinson, Edgar Allan Poe, Stephen Crane, Thomas Stearns Eliot, Ezra Pound, Robert Frost, William Carlos Williams, Hilda Doolittle, Langston Hughes, Sylvia Plath, Elizabeth Bishop, Anne Sexton, Allen Ginsberg, Maya Angelou, Charles Bukowski, Charles Bernstein, Louise Glick i Charles Simic.

The National Library “Radosav Ljumović” in Podgorica will host the program “Primary Schoolchildren in the World of Poetry”, which brings together talented elementary school students. They will celebrate the beauty of poetry and the written word with their recitations, and due to the large number of participants, the program is divided into two groups. From 18 pm, students from elementary schools: “Milan Vukotić”, “Sutjeska”, “Marko Miljanov” will perform, and from 19 pm, their peers from elementary schools: “Novka Ubović”, “Vladimir Nazor”, “Vlado Milić” and “Vuk Karadžić”.

World Poetry Day will also be celebrated at the National Library of Budva, tonight at 19 pm, in the hall of the Academy of Knowledge. Traditionally, as in previous years, Budva's creators will perform...

"The poetry and music marathon will feature established and unestablished poets and musicians from Budva. In addition to the original recitation of verses, in a classic but also unconventional way, on the occasion of World Poetry Day, we will pay attention to the interaction of poetry and other media, in this case music. In the musical part, we will sing and play: Nemanja Djordjevic-Necke, Branko Zerajic, "and with special pleasure we announce that for the first time in the National Library of Budva, the band "Rani jadi", which was founded last year as the first school band in the history of the 'Danilo Kiš' Secondary School, will perform. Founded with the idea of ​​being composed of musically talented children of all generations and all majors in high school, this band will also be joined by new, upcoming generations," the statement announced.

World Poetry Day was established by UNESCO in 1999 and is celebrated on March 21. The purpose of this day is to commemorate poetry, promote the reading, writing and publication of poetry worldwide, and provide new incentives and recognition to national, regional and international poetry movements, according to a UNESCO report defining this day.

Electronic anthology "Unsaid Sings"

The International Association of Literary Creators and Artists "Nekazano" based in Bar is marking World Poetry Day by publishing an electronic poetry collection "Nekazano pjeva".

The collection includes two poems by 107 poets from Bar, Montenegro and other parts of the world, and with it "Nekazano" simultaneously celebrates March 21st, but also encourages poetic creativity and the affirmation of poetry in contemporary society. The editor of the publication is Labud N. Lončar, who is also responsible for the publishing of the Association.
