Montenegrin cinematography was presented at the 29th edition of the Sofia International Film Festival. Three films supported by the Film Center of Montenegro were screened at the festival. Feature film "Obraz" ("The Tower of Strength"), by a Montenegrin director Nikola Vukčević, participated in the "Best Balkan Film Award" competition, in which 12 Balkan films competed. "Obraz" was realized with the support of the Film Center of Montenegro.
Among the films supported by the Film Center of Montenegro in the competition for co-financing minority co-productions, the films "Everything Comes to an End" by the director were presented. Rajko Grlić and the film "Mother Mara" directed by Mirjana KaranovićOn this occasion, Rajko Grlić received the Sofia Award, which is presented by the Municipality of Sofia for an exceptional directing career and contribution to European cinematography.
The panel discussed the distribution of Balkan and European films in the region. It was concluded that all partners are ready to continue cooperation with the aim of creating a wider audience, popularizing European films and promoting common values.
"The goal is to develop an audience that recognizes the value of European cinema. Montenegro contributes to this process through co-productions, international cooperation and the digitalization of cinema halls across the country. The Film Center of Montenegro is dedicated to promoting domestic films on the international stage and strengthening regional cooperation in order to strengthen the development of cinema in the Balkans," said Božović.
The Film Center of Montenegro announced that the institution, in the spirit of open cooperation and joint work with professionals from the region and Europe, will continue to encourage and support projects that strengthen the international reputation of Montenegrin cinema and its development, while simultaneously contributing to the affirmation of European film and common cultural values.
