The upcoming Beldocs festival, which will be held from May 21 to 27 in Belgrade, brings two regional premieres that illuminate lives through intimate journeys, letters and confessions. Beatrice Dal i Maria Kalas, through the eyes of a famous actress Monica Bellucci.
The film "Passion According to Béatrice" (La Passion Selon Béatrice), directed by the renowned Belgian director Fabrisa of Velca, takes us on an emotional and poetic journey through Italy, where the actress tries to reach the essence of creativity. Pier Paolo Pasolini, one of the people who inspired her most in life.
Through black-and-white camerawork and an authentic approach, the film is a kind of confession of a woman who never made compromises and who bares her soul in front of the camera, embarking on a spiritual search for herself through the figure of the artist she adores.
The film was screened at the Locarno Film Festival and delighted critics and audiences.
"Monica Bellucci Meets Maria Callas", directed by Janisa Dimolistatosa i Toma Vulfa, presents a moving dialogue between two artists: a legendary opera diva and a film star.
Through letters, memoirs and rare archival footage, Bellucci interprets Callas's story on stage, conveying fragments of her glamorous but tragic life.
From a humble childhood in New York to worldwide fame, with all the love, loss and loneliness, the film explores the power of art as a space for transforming pain into beauty.
This biographical story intertwines two different eras: the rise of Maria Callas and the present day, through which her legacy continues to resonate.
Tickets for the screenings will be available online on the Baeldocs website in the coming days.
