The second edition of the Tivat Music Festival will be officially opened on June 18th in the Great Hall of the Tivat Cultural Center, with one of the most popular and most performed operas, "Carmen". George Bizet, which will be performed for the first time in front of a Tivat audience.

The one-act opera "Carmen" was directed by Milan Neskovic, according to dramaturgical intervention Peter Brook, produced by the National Theatre of the Republic of Srpska from Banja Luka. The conductor is Stefan Zekic, featuring singers and actors from Belgrade and Banja Luka: mezzo-soprano Sofija Petrović (Carmen), tenor Marko Zivkovic (Don Hoze), bariton Vuk Zekic (Escamille), soprano Ivana Milinčić (Mikaela), Anando Cenic, Vladimir Djordjevic, Year Radishes i Anđela Rakočević, accompanied by the Symphony Orchestra of the National Theatre of the Republic of Srpska. The set designer is Andreja Rondović, costume designer, Jelena Vidovic, and the stage movement was working Emir Fejzic.

"In a dramaturgical intervention Peter Brook, tailored in the 1980s, the dramatic action becomes denser, more intense and more concrete. Without emphasizing the colorful environment in which the original action takes place, the 'purified' Carmen relies on concrete relationships between the characters and more clearly maps the problem of the suffering of a woman of Roma origin. Carmen, the first operatic Roma heroine, does not only tell a story of great love and tragedy, but, above all, she speaks of freedom, of freedom of being, of action and, ultimately, of the freedom of the right to choose and free love", are the words of conductor Stefan Zekić.

Director Milan Nešković adds that in the opera "Carmen" he found exactly what made him choose this profession.

"Opera combines two things that made me become a director. They are music and theater. Spain combines three things that make me feel alive. They are wine, sun and passion. Seville is perhaps the most beautiful city I have ever been to, because it combines all my passions in one. Therefore, it is not surprising that some higher powers conspired and prophesied that my first opera direction would be exactly - 'Carmen'. This is a story about love. It demands freedom, which is often inaccessible to us. Is that why the subtitle of this opera is 'a tragedy'? Is there love without freedom?", asks the director.

The second Tivat Music Festival will be held from June 18th to August 20th at several locations in Tivat. In addition to the general sponsor - the Tivat Cultural Center, TMF is also supported by numerous sponsors.
