The moment when a man with one suitcase passes through foreign cities, unknown regions, beautiful scenes that he fails to experience, because he no longer has a sense of belonging, is the central motif of the artist's exhibition "Life in a Suitcase". Leave Bozhine from Ukraine which opened at the end of last week in the gallery of the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Podgorica and will be there until August 20th.
"It is a powerful and emotional installation that, through color, composition, and atmosphere, conveys the personal and universal experience of displacement, nostalgia, and quiet hope. The central place is occupied by a cycle inspired by contemporary migrations, wars, and the personal stories of Lada Bozhina and people close to her who had to leave their homes. On the canvases, she records fragments of that journey," the statement reads.
On the big screen, small, fragile characters become symbols of invisible lives trying to take root in a new reality...
"You see the beauty around you, but you don't feel it. The world is there for you, but it's not yours," the artist adds.
In addition to the main cycle, the exhibition also includes decorative works created with the idea of ennobling the space.
"Not every painting has to speak. Some are there to make the space easier to breathe," Bozhina points out.
These works bring peace, harmony and beauty, representing the other side of its expression, the organizers state.
"The exhibition 'Life in a Suitcase' is a quiet, deep and honest, visually powerful story of loss, searching, memories and hope. It reminds us how precious home and belonging are, and how much art can speak when words are not enough," they state.
Bozhina was born in Ukraine in 1981, into a family of artists. After 15 years spent in Russia, she has been living and creating in Montenegro for seven years...
