The painting colony "Let's Paint the Lake with Joy on Canvas", which brings together artists from the region, opened today on Lake Skadar, in the immediate vicinity of the Boljesestra water source.
Welcoming the attendees, the Deputy Mayor Boris Spalevic announced that the Capital, in cooperation with the Tourist Organization, plans to valorize the sites of Skadar Lake, which are natural and tourist gems not far from Podgorica.
"Today, academic painters, sculptors, artists from Montenegro, Macedonia, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina are here, and all of this shows that culture and art connect us and have no borders. We believe that this first painting colony will be just one in a series and that it will grow into a tradition. We expect that next year there will be more painters and that the Bolje sestre locality will be recognized much more than it has been so far, because the Podgorica Tourism Organization, together with the Secretariat for Culture and Support of the Capital City, will work on its affirmation and valorization," said Spalević, adding that such initiatives connect people, nature and art.
The festive program opened with a performance by a fiddler and a choir in the spirit of tradition and respect for local culture, symbolically marking the beginning of a multi-day creative gathering that will last until July 28th.
