The acting ensemble, led by By Kristina Obradović in the role of Hasanaginica and Branimir Popović as Hasanag, he performed an emotional and moving drama in front of the audience of the 38th edition of the "Barski ljetopis" festival.
The play "Hasanaginica", produced by the Tivat Cultural Center, was performed last night in front of a full audience at the Summer Stage of the Cultural Center, as part of this year's Chronicle theater program.
According to the text Ljubomir Simović, The direction, adaptation, music selection and stage movement were signed by one of the greatest directors of the regional drama scene. Jagos Markovic.
The play was inspired by one of the most famous and centuries-old ballads about the fate of a woman torn between honor, family, and her own pain, and the audience rewarded their interpretation with a standing ovation.
"The powerful messages of the tragedy placed in our space and in our mentality point to a reconsideration of how much we as a society make mistakes when making certain decisions, guided by moral principles. The story was accompanied by music, lighting and sand effects that covered the entire scene," the Bar Chronicle said in a statement.
In addition to the masterful duo - Kristina Obradović and Branimir Popović, the cast is completed by: Anita Mancic, Nebojsa Kundacina, Sandra Bugarski, Aleksandar Sreckovic, Miso Obradovic, Momcilo Otasevic, Vukan Pejovic i Miloš Pejović.
The performance in Bar was the first performance of the play from Tivat after ten years of existence. According to Kristina Obradović, it was also the first opening to an audience of this kind, in terms of the technical possibilities that the Bar stage and auditorium offer, and she is pleased with the result.
"I have to admit that I wondered what this would look like tonight, how we would 'move the ramp', as we say. In Tivat, we played in a more intimate space, the audience was closer, everything was more intimate. However, it turned out that even without sound, which was our decision, the actors, the voice and emotion can reach the last rows. The audience in Bar confirmed this, and based on the reactions, we can conclude that 'Hasanaginica' in Bar went wonderfully. I need a little more time to gather my impressions, but for me every performance of this play is a holiday. We don't often get the opportunity to speak texts of this caliber. Ljuba Simović, Jagoš Marković and a team like this... It doesn't happen often that all the pieces fall into place," said Obradović.
She also spoke about how the interpretation of the character of Hasanaginica developed over ten years of performance, given that the play premiered on July 15, 2015.
"I started working on it in a very vulnerable period, just a few months after my father's death. Then, from summer to summer, we would return to that play, which is its special mark. It was not performed throughout the year, but exclusively in the summer and only in one place. Each time we came different. In the meantime, I became a mother, once or twice, and it happened that I was breastfeeding my little girl right before going on stage. All these technical and life circumstances had to be arranged, and in the meantime, layers were being added to my soul, to my life, to my being, and we simply presented ourselves as new, different and changed from year to year. I like the maturation that life brings me and the fact that we slowly manage to incorporate that into the story itself and into our characters. Change is, of course, the only constant," said the charming actress, also reflecting on the most challenging moments during the process.
"At the very beginning, it was very difficult for me to accept reconciliation with fate. I am not a person who believes in that, but I think that I can intervene, to change something, to do something. I think in a way that no one can take my child from me, only if they cut off my hands. It took me time to accept that there is this power of a man's word, that it is the law, and a woman, believing in some higher justice, agrees to it. For her, that justice only comes in paradise. The interesting thing is that it turns out that it is she, Hasanaginica, who makes the main decision. The moment she confronts her brother and decides to pass by the palace, to see the child and say goodbye to him... from that moment on, she begins to slowly die. That was her decision," Obradović explained, and she also reflected on the atmosphere in the ensemble.
"The ensemble is great! I especially love the Asker, although I don't exchange lines with them on stage, but they are my friends privately. We also had a replacement tonight, Vukan stepped in instead of Emir Ćatović and he did fantastically. And I don't need to waste words on the acting giants I play with. I learn something from them every time. I can already feel the effects of my years, but we are sailing together, with full sails. 'Hasanaginica' ends its story for this year here. I hope that we will all be healthy and happy next summer in Tivat. And now, that we have broken the ice, maybe more guest appearances await us," said Obradović, revealing that part of the cast of "Hasanaginica" will soon meet on a new assignment.
"Starting tomorrow, I'm going to rehearsals for another play, again directed by Jagoš Marković. Bane Popović and Anita Mančić are also there, we're doing 'Filomena Marturano'," announced Kristina Obradović.
