The violent interruption of the screening of a film in Albanian at the Dzada Film Fest is not just an issue of the Albanian community - it is an issue of Montenegro, said Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and President of the Albanian Alternative Nik Djeljosaj.
"Perhaps Albanians should not be the first to react, because it is logical and fair for others to stand up for basic values and protect the Constitution, or perhaps the message is that the Constitution does not apply to everyone," he said.
The Presidents of the State, Government and Parliament, he said, are most responsible for reacting and ensuring the screening of the film.
"Unfortunately, their reaction is lacking. And when institutions are silent, that silence is well understood in our society and we know how to read it."
It says that violence and hatred must not be allowed to dictate public life.
"Montenegro must prove that it is a state of all citizens, and not a hostage to primitivism and silence. If the projection does not come true as planned, then the message is that hooligans are stronger than the state. Whoever remains silent in the face of hatred becomes its accomplice," said Đeljošaj.
