The Belgrade Drama Theatre is organizing "Jagoš's Sunday" from September 23rd to 28th, marking two years since his departure. Jagoš Marković, one of the most prominent theater directors in the region, an artist whose work has indelibly marked the theater scene.
Over the course of six days, the audience will have the opportunity to re-experience performances that testify to his unique directorial vision and the extraordinary energy he brought to the theater.
The program begins today, when the cult play "The Bald Singer" arrives on the stage of the Belgrade Drama Theater.
This unusual comedy, based on the text Ežena Ioneska, is Jagoš's latest direction and premiered in Tivat at Purgatorijem 2023. To date, the play has become a true festival phenomenon – it has won as many as 35 awards at 12 festivals. The cast includes Olga Odanović, Branko Vidaković, Dubravka Drakić, Momčilo Otasevic, Sandra Bugarski i Branimir PopovićAfter the performance, at 9:30 PM, a discussion about the performance and Jagoš will be held in the BDP club, open to the audience and media.
"We still have a hard time dealing with the fact that Jagoš is no longer with us and that he left us so early at the age of 57. His magnificent directorial oeuvre does not reflect the real time he spent with us, the number of his directorial works and their anthological imprint far exceed the years that Jagoš spent living and working in the theaters of Belgrade, Serbia, Montenegro, the region and Europe," he said. During Jagoš's Days, the audience will be able to see two more of his plays from the repertoire of the Belgrade Drama Theatre: "Twilight of the Gods" on September 25th and 26th on the Small Stage at 8 pm and "Wild Meat" on September 27th and 28th on the Big Stage at 7:30 pm.
