The Montenegrin National Theatre (CNP) ensemble returns home from its tour with five awards earned by the actors from the play "The Inside Out" Boris Liješevića and “Mr. Glembay” Danila Marunović.
The "Rejhan Demiržić" award for best young actors at the 65th International Theatre Festival MESS in Sarajevo went to: Lazar Đurđević i Anđela Marunović for their roles in the play "The Other Side" which was performed on Friday evening at the Sarajevo National Theatre, to several minutes of applause and standing ovations.
At the 6th Festival of Drama and Theatre of the Balkan Cultural Space “Theatre at the Crossroads”, the Montenegrin National Theatre achieved significant success with the play “The Glembays”, which, according to the text, Miroslava Ticks directed by Marunović. The award for best actress was given to To Kristina Obradovic for the superb performance of Baroness Kasteli Glembaj. In the jury's explanation of the decision, it is emphasized that Obradović "succeeded in capturing all the elements of the complex and tragic Baroness Kasteli through striking acting techniques - both chaste and lustful, strong and vulnerable."
The award for best young actor went to To Stevan Vuković for the role of Alojzi Silberbrandt.
"With mature acting skills, strength, intensity and rhythm, although a young actor, he created a role that brilliantly sets him apart from the excellent acting of the entire ensemble," the jury stated in its decision.
The journalist jury award was also given to the play "The Glembays" for "an exceptionally thoughtful and innovative directorial interpretation of a classic text"...
"Marunović managed to translate Krleža's drama into contemporary stage language, without distorting its fundamental meaning, and to direct it intelligently, layeredly, and courageously. The final scene is particularly noteworthy, which connects Krleža's world with today's social moment in a striking and symbolic way. It is precisely because of this combination of tradition and modern stage expression that the play won the award from the journalist jury," the explanation reads.
In addition to the two awardees, the following also play roles in the play: Svetozar Cvetković, Mišo Obradović, Una Lučić, Danilo Čelebić, Pavle Prelević, Jovan Dabović, Kristina Mrkić and Predrag Pavicevic.
The sixth edition of the Balkan Cultural Space Drama and Theater Festival "Theatre at the Crossroads" ended last night with the award ceremony and the performance of the play Heinrich fon Klajsta “Michael Kohlhaas”, directed by Boris Liješević, Yugoslav Drama Theatre from Belgrade, in honor of the awardees.
