Painting exhibition "Secret City" Natalije Djuranovic, organized by the Public Institution Museums and Galleries of Budva, will open today at the Modern Gallery "Jovo Ivanović" in Budva, at 19 p.m.
The text about the artist's work in the accompanying catalogue is signed by Pavle Goranović, and the curators of the exhibition are an art historian Danka Mitrović i Vasilisa GagovićThe exhibition will be open until October 28th.
"The installation 'Secret City' represents a new chapter in the artist's work, whose paintings are characterized by strong colors, a balance between figurative and abstract expression, and a poetic vision of the world. Natalija Đuranović builds an artistic universe in which symbols, landscapes, and interior spaces intertwine, creating layered images that simultaneously evoke both reality and dream," the statement reads.
Đuranović was born in Sarajevo in 1974. She graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Cetinje, in the class of professor Nikola Gvozdenović, where she received her master's degree in 2005. She is the recipient of several significant awards for painting, including the Spinaker Gallery Award for Best Graduate, the Center for Contemporary Art of Montenegro Award, the Annual Award for Young Talents, the Herceg Novi Winter Salon Award, and the ULUCG "Milunović, Stijović, Lubarda" Award (2019).
She has exhibited solo in Montenegro, the region, as well as in London and Venice, and has participated in numerous group exhibitions and biennials in the country and abroad. She has been a member of the Association of Fine Artists of Montenegro since 1997, and works as a curator and museum advisor at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Montenegro. She lives and works in Podgorica.
