Another recognition for Lidija Kordić

Montenegrin actress Lidija Kordic, for her role in the film “Working Class Goes to Hell,” she won the AFA “Rising Star” award. Although she stressed that she did not expect it and that the award means a lot to her, the recognition itself is not a surprise, considering the numerous European awards that Kordić has won this year.

The AFA Awards - “Adriatic Film & TV Awards” - are awarded to the best achievements and individuals, as part of the Adriatic Region Festival Network.

The first AFA Awards ceremony took place last weekend in Porto Montenegro in Tivat. The AFA award for best film went to “Fiume o morte!” directed by Igor Bezinović. This co-production of Croatia, Italy and Slovenia was also seen by the Podgorica audience during this year's edition of the UnderhillFest International Documentary Film Festival. Igor Bezinović won the AFA award for best director and best screenplay, all for the film "Fiume o morte!".

When it comes to series, the awards went to "Sabre" (a co-production between Serbia and Bulgaria) by the creators Vladimir Tagić i Goran Stanković. It was named best series, while the AFA awards for best leading actress in a TV series and best leading actor in the same category were also won. Milica Gojković i Dragan Mićanović.

"The award winners were selected by a professional jury consisting of more than 560 members of the Film and TV Academy in its founding, from various film industry professions and from different countries in the region. The Film and TV Academy of the Adriatic Region is founded by members of the Adriatic Region Festival Network: Sarajevo Film Festival, Belgrade Film Festival and Zagreb Film Festival. The AFA awards were presented in 10 categories at a ceremony held at the Museum of Nautical Heritage in Porto Montenegro in Tivat, which is the main partner of the event," the statement said.

It is also emphasized that the AFA Awards were presented at the beginning of the international film awards season, with the aim of creating a platform from which films and series from our region can make a strong start to the international awards season. They also announced that the recognition and visibility that the AFA Awards bring can help place regional works on the international stage and market. The awards ceremony was closed by a Croatian journalist Daniela Trbovic, quoting Winston Churchill: “We shall never surrender”.
